Help me find a khaki down puffer

Krupkrups · 03/11/2022 18:12

Please. I'm looking for something knee length or even lower/mid thigh - I'm petite. Not oversized (see above), and recycled (ideally down). Sorry vegans I know, I've tried the 'like-down' ones and they are not like down and just too heavy. I do a lot of walking and chasing pre schoolers around and live in a cold area of the UK so need the lightweight warmth.

I am prepared to spend a bit, and don't really want standard high street (Zara, H&M etc. always look lovely but never warm enough and the they never last) my last one has lasted me four yrs so I get good wear. Ideally not over £400 though, everything I've seen so far that I like is!

Also if I'm not being fussy enough already I would like something which comes straight down or is a cocoon shape rather than fit and flare.

And as per the title ideally khaki or dark green coloured.

Thank you very much in advance.

Im guessing you have checked out Uniqlo?

Uniqlo - I have the one PP linked but in black, it's very warm and wears well.

KirstenBlest · 03/11/2022 19:43

No idea about warmth but Jaki London has a long one but it won't be down at that price.
I'm not familiar with the brand but it was mentioned on another thread.

I was going to suggest Canada Goose, but then I saw your budget x

Luxy · 03/11/2022 21:56

This Rab one is nice

starsinyourpies · 03/11/2022 22:15

Have you looked at Barbour? They have quite a few. Not sure how good they are for petite but they are definitely warm!

I got a lovely one from La Redoute

Thanks ladies @PrettyUpMyPorch yes sadly I've tried it, it's nice tho :-)

@Pinkcadillac Rains unfortunately aren't down and a very heavy, shame because ideal style/colour.

@Shiningstarr yes I have been converting a CG and a Moncler one which are both ideal, wahhhhh, in fairness I've just bought some Isabel Marant boots which I won't wear enough so could return and put the money to one of these....would you recommend? I love the Moncler one too which is slightly cheaper but where I use to live there were always loads of kids in fake ones and it put me off!

@Clarabellawilliamson I have, I used to have one of their short ones and it was okay but wanted to spend a bit more and keep for a few years.

@Luxy I've ordered that to try, ta very much. Think it might possibly be too fit and flare but will try.

Also ordered a Marmont one and gone on the preorder for a Bajuken one - why on earth I they always so behind with their stock....not into them until 18th Nov!! It's blooming freezing here now!

I would highly recommend the CG one. Honestly mine is absolutely amazing and worth every penny.

@Krupkrups - the Rab one recommended above is fabulous, in fact my new favourite coat ( I’ve got the navy). I prefer it to my Holland Copper and CG because it’s lighter weight and not at all fit and flare. Because it has 2 way zip it’s also good to drive in as you can undo the lower half of the coat rather than needing to take it off.

Im 5’4 and it’s mid thigh on me.

Dubarry also do a nice one but it is a bit more roomy and I wanted something fairly fitted.

I've got the Rab one - not at all fit and flare. Keeps me toasty dog walking and watching the kids football matches.

I have a Max Mara olive green down puffer coat, it is like wearing a (very chic) cloud. The fabric has a beautiful sheen and the cut is perfect. I got if from Vestiaire, still expensive but worth every penny.

CSJ113 · 05/11/2022 17:41

I saw a girl today wearing a fabulous 2-tone green down coat. I’m pretty sure it was Patagonia

CSJ113 · 05/11/2022 17:49

Nope Berghaus. Looked much cooler in real life.
