Waterproof coat

Help me find a coat please.. black or maybe khaki. Longish, definitely below bum. Parka style or puffer. Not fitted or restrictive, ideally decent pockets, warm and most importantly; waterproof.
Ive tried a couple of regatta ones but didn’t fit right. Oh and ideally not more than £80, but cheaper the better.
I had a primark parka that lasted years, it wasn’t marketed as waterproof but held out well, was so comfy and warm but eventually I had to get rid of it, haven’t found a decent one since and need one asap for a holiday.

I have this which I love. Comes in different colours and definitely water proof (not water resistant like a lot of them)

This one is a bit over budget but has a nice cut, is heavier than some coats though

The craghoppers one in olive green is on sale at £62 if your size is available

Seasalt are my go-to - properly waterproof.

I have this one from M & S. I wore it yesterday in the torrential rain and can confirm that it is waterproof, it is also light although not winter warm.

Seasalt plant hunter coat. You can get them for brand new for £80 from the eBay outlet.

I actually came across this today and bought in on a whim as its so comfy. It says it’s water repellent. I’m not sure if that’s closer to waterproof or water resistant? I don’t understand why more costs aren’t waterproof.

Waterproof is really difficult. Fir them to be waterproof and breathable it needs a membrane which lets water vapour escape but doesn't let water particles through. That's expensive.

No one wants to be sweaty in what is essentially a plastic bag!

Do you really need waterproof? Will you be standing in the rain without a brolly for 10 min plus? If not water resistant should be fine.

I tend to buy didrikson if I want genuinely waterproof. They do sometimes go on sale on ebay/amazon

I had a Janelle from landsend but it leaked on the shoulders, its either faulty or most people don't really spend time in the rain. They did refund though.

M&S do some high tech materials for good prices.

I have a dog, so waterproof is quite essential. Although if it’s heavy rain I don’t stay out for long.

Looks lovely!

Wore it to walk the dog in the rain today and can confirm it is waterpolo and was dry within a few minutes of being home. I’m very pleased with it as it’s really light and comfortable but still warm.
