I want a new bag...something fairly classical, pref leather and budget around £100-150 - what would you go for?

What sort of bag are you after? e.g. tote, shoulder, cross body.
What will you be carrying in it?

BergamotandLime · 02/11/2022 10:36

Shoulder I think - need to carry A4 folders in it!

I don't think that budget will buy you leather, unless you try High Street e.g. Mango, Massimo Dutti?

bakehimawaytoys · 02/11/2022 10:50

What about a Longchamp Pliage bag? They are canvas with a leather handle and flap. Elegant and classic.

Of course it will!

What styles do you like OP? If you just want a classic brown Leather bag then try Scaramanga.

I have one of their bags that I've had for over 10 years and it's still in good condition.

Joules have some nice bags too. Or try TK Maxx.

Sago1 · 02/11/2022 11:33

Try TK Max, I just returned a Longchamp Pilage backpack to John Lewis as it was such poor quality, for the same money I got a Brics navy backpack and a leather bag.
I cannot carry a heavy tote bag as it causes shoulder pain, I find a backpack style much easier.

ILoveShula · 02/11/2022 11:34

I have a leather tote from FatFace that was about £85, but I usually use a laptop backpack for work, or I put my laptop in a padded cover and use a regular bachpack

Catsforeverinlove · 02/11/2022 12:32

Longchamp le pliage - the corners will get holes in soon.
I got my lovely green ale pliage and few weeks I noticed the corners are starting to go and I used the bag apprx 3-4 only!
Unfortunately I read now that’s very common with this particular bag.. so waste of money really

bakehimawaytoys · 02/11/2022 14:39

Just a suggestion..! I have two and they've both lasted years. Depends what you're using it for I suppose. For £100-150 it is worth considering bags that aren't 100% leather.

Catsforeverinlove · 02/11/2022 15:46

@bakehimawaytoys i only used mine literally like decoration, have nothing in it, just few items when went out with friend.
They are nice but I was quite disappointed as of the corners wear.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 02/11/2022 15:47

I have a Fjallraven Kanken tote with laptop pocket and a zip top. It is can as but waterproof and was around £80

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 02/11/2022 15:48

That should say canvas. Oh for an edit button.

bakehimawaytoys · 02/11/2022 17:23

That's a bummer for sure. Did you take it back? It sounds like it was faulty.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 03/11/2022 06:02

Take a look on the John Lewis site - lots of brands and a good search facility.

wibblewobbleboard · 03/11/2022 06:06

I'm waiting for a bag from here to come back into stock www.leathercompany.co.uk/

CeeceeBloomingdale · 03/11/2022 06:12

I got a lovely Coach hobo bag a couple of months ago for £118 (£111.87 after cashback). RRP is £295. They often do hefty sales and the quality is excellent.

purpledagger · 03/11/2022 07:08

look at Coach or Aspinal. both are expensive, but they will be having sales soon and they do decent discounts.

HalfWower · 03/11/2022 07:20

The Leather Satchel Company. I just bought one (on Vinted, can't justify full price)

I want them all!

MadamNoo · 03/11/2022 07:26

Look on Etsy, not the knock-offs but I’ve had two lovely simple leather bags made by small crafts companies and they’re ageing well
