Jumpsuit - again! Pocket and belt issue

We all love pockets, right? Not when they don't lie flat we don't. I think I can stitch them down?

What about the belt though? I can't stitch that down otherwise I will have to live in the jumpsuit for ever. I think I'd need another belt loop. That's beyond my skill.

Is it worth it? Does it look nice?

I hope my loo roll is the right way
I'll shave my pits if I wear this

...and when I say jumpsuit again, I am referring to the fact that I posted me in a jumpsuit in the summer (not that I expect anyone to remember!)

As a seamstress I'd have to advise that the problem is a bad fit not bad pockets. You need a bigger size on the hips. Will be lovely if you get the right size. Perhaps go up a size and have the top tailored smaller if it swims?

TheOrigRights · 31/10/2022 14:09

You know, I was wondering if that was the issue, but I'm not sure. It's not snug over my backside.
I just tried it on again. I don't think the next size up will look good overall, and I imagine getting the top 1/2 altered would be pretty tricky (thus spendy).

It does feel like it's pulling. If I hoik it up (pic with my hand over belt) it seems to hang a big better. Maybe the waist isn't sitting in the right place.

Its looks as if there is a waist seam. Can you have it taken up there only by a tiny bit, that would be hidden by the belt and make it sit better. ( just by doing a deeper seam)
the belt…. Hmm I think a pop stud further round would hold the tail in place but actually I would not thread it through the second loop and let it dangle…it looks soft enough.

Sorry, I've put a yellow line where it's too tight but when you wear it less cinched nd let it hang further you're getting away with it. What about a lovely long silk scarf as a belt loosely tied?

Would a different belt work? That one has a very big buckle. You look as if you would suit most clothes & that isn’t flattering enough in my opinion.

The belt came with it, but is easily removed.

But then the pockets bulge. I can see what you mean; if it was taylor made it would be a bit looser there. I think a whole size up would be too much though.

I think the belt is too wide, and too floppy for its width. I'm not a fan of these type of belts at all, a structured/stiff belt, but not pulled in too tightly, will encircle in the right place without the need for belt loops. Try some different belts and see if you prefer the effect. Also if you don't need the pockets then they can be slip-stitched closed. (easily undone if so wished in the future).

TheOrigRights · 01/11/2022 08:56

Thank you Pinkittens.

I don't have any other suitable belts to try.

I do however have another jumpsuit arriving from Asos in the next couple of days, so I will see how that looks.

Oh it's a trial!

Asos. Super bell bottom.

Prefer the second one

CrushedPistachios · 02/11/2022 21:54

Really like the 2nd one, much more flattering

TheOrigRights · 13/11/2022 10:54

The bloody belt doesn't stay in place. Within minutes it's slid to gaping.
I'll need to undo it to use the loo so I can't stitch it in place.
Cheap Asos shit!

Velcro dots or pop stud !

Trumpton · 13/11/2022 16:45

Or even a safety pin from the inside of the belt.
