How would you style this skirt?

I've had this skirt for YEARS and wore it once (with a v neck black jumper). Any other (better) ideas for how it could be styled? The sequins are dull not shiny.

How would you style this skirt?

I would wear a stretch smooth long black top with a long thin chain to match the colour. Uniqlo is great for these basics

hopeishere · 29/10/2022 14:48

Hmmmm I'm a size 16 so I'm not sure about anything clinging.

I reckon that skirt could be paired with a whole range of knitwear. Something mohair-y. Chunky or fine knits.

White T-Shirt or a black t-shirt & denim jacket?

CoraggioCara · 29/10/2022 14:54

I'd experiment with both full tuck and French tuck...

hopeishere · 29/10/2022 14:55

I think I'm maybe just too fat to carry it off. I would look like a box in a tee shirt with it.

I’ve always admired those skirts op but I’m a busty size 16 so I just never knew how I’d be able to style it successfully. How about a black mohair jumper with a Bardot off the shoulder thing going on to even up the glam factor? With red lips and spikey black boots?

Niftythrifter · 29/10/2022 15:40

A leather jacket to finish and then something sparkly like a body or even an M and S thermal long sleeve top which they do in a glittery black.

LadyWithLapdog · 29/10/2022 15:44

Black jumper, black short boots. I think you’d need to keep it simple to balance the sequins.

Madagascary · 29/10/2022 15:47

I have a skirt like that I wear with a very plain close-knit black fine knit jumper, imagine a longsleeved T-shirt but as a jumper, and then I have some heeled suede kind of sock boots that go underneath it.

MintChocCornetto · 29/10/2022 16:00

Ballerina/cropped wrap cardi?

If you're worried about looking boxy you'll need something that goes in at the waist

I think an oversized knit would be great. Agree with the mohair suggestion. You can tuck it in a bit at the front.

Figroll16 · 29/10/2022 16:41

What about a white shirt tucked in?

Lndnmummy · 29/10/2022 16:44

A black jumper

hopeishere · 29/10/2022 17:05

Thanks everyone. A ballerina style cardi might work. Or a Bardot one.

Maybe a bright pink jumper www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cashmere-round-neck-jumper/p/clp22491941

devilinareddress · 29/10/2022 17:20

I have one like that, and wear with t-shirts, even sweatshirts. This year I have a blue satin shirt, it looks over the top, but I like it, with a sleeveless knit, and then jut the shirt with a few buttons undone Wink

KellyTelios · 29/10/2022 17:47

Black turtleneck, leather jacket, black lace up ankle boots (non chunky but slimmer ones) hair in a bun

KellyTelios · 29/10/2022 17:48

Or black wrap knit

Mynameiselvispresley · 29/10/2022 23:33

Really like it. Where is it from please?

hopeishere · 30/10/2022 08:04

It's from Boden but it ancient!

I have a navy blue sequin pencil skirt and I wore it with a v neck t shirt with a wide diamanté trim.. really specific I know but it looked really good with trainers

next I’m going to try it with a grey slub tshirt with a fluffy black longline cardigan - try the neckline that suits you in t shirts and the longer cardigan tones it down a bit. Wear with casual boots or trainers we

Fedupwitheveryone · 30/10/2022 10:15

@Mynameiselvispresley there's a similar one currently on Oliver Bonas website which looks nice and quite flattering cut (am trying to justify for myself for 'xmas parties')

Mynameiselvispresley · 30/10/2022 10:25

@Fedupwitheveryone @hopeishere 🙏🏾Thank you
