What REALLY works for pores?

I'm just a bit desperate. My nose pores have always been troublesome, but seem even worse since I'm 40. You can squeeze anywhere on my nose and get something out, gross. They look terrible, I feel like I've tried everything but I must be missing something. Any advice please on what's worked for you?

What’s your diet like and do you drink lots of water?

what have you tried?

GyozaGuiting · 28/10/2022 18:05

I use benefit porefessional and it works for me! It’s a bit like polyfilla for your face.
I’ve tried numerous and I keep going back to it.

Paulas choice 2% liquid exfoliant is good

Salicylic acid.

And Sali Hughes x Rev multi acid toner has helped the appearance of mine.

Skin and me were amazing for mine, I started noticing a difference after a couple of days. It’s personalised to you (kind of, you answer a billion questions) and it was fab.

My nose is the same as yours sounds, but my entire face is just pores and fuzzy hair. Sexy!

Relocatiorelocation · 28/10/2022 18:10

@GyozaGuiting that sounds fab for giving a flattering appearance, but what I'd love is to zap the buggers away if possible!

@Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink my diet and lifestyle are really pretty good, drink litres of water a day.
I've tried loads of cleanse / tone / moisturise routines from various brands (Clarins, Clinique etc) over the years. I'm presently using retinol and an AHA BHA peel, with absolutely no effect.

Salicylic acid and niacinamide can help.

irrrannuu · 28/10/2022 18:13

Retinol is the best on mine for drying up the grease and ultimately that's what's making mine look bigger. I use The Ordinary with squaline.

I've heard laser is the best thing for a more permanent solution so I will probably go down that route soon.

snowflake29 · 28/10/2022 18:18

I use salicylic acid (cerave) cleanser daily and twice a week use a scrub on my tzone by Soap and Glory (scrub my nose facial scrub) and I've noticed a good reduction in the number and size of my nose pores!

ViSovari · 28/10/2022 18:25

I second skin and me. And also niacinamide
my nose is the same :(
I tried the ordinary retinol with squalane but it actually made my skin worse and blocked my pores and made them bigger despite it being non comedogenic.

skin and me has been the best I’ve used though and that has niacinamide and retinol in it for my prescription

TwitcherLady · 28/10/2022 18:35

Following because I'm the same. I've tried retinol among other things, they seem to be getting worse as I get older.

I've had this problem especially around my nose. Ever since I switched to the oil cleansing method, my pores are now normal and there is never any gunk in them. Oil method works because oil is the best at getting oil our of your pores and overtime your skin becomes normal, meaning that you need to spend extra on all the masks and harsh acids etc I just use oil for cleansing and find I don't need anything else and my face looks fab

Relocatiorelocation · 28/10/2022 18:42

Thank you all. I've actually tried Skin + Me, they sent me tret which did nothing at all for my pores.
I will try the salicylic acid and niacinamide, is this as a toner after night time cleansing I guess?
