to wear with a long floaty skirt & chunky jumper?

It depends on the skirt style for me

Sugaspunsista · 27/10/2022 13:04

I love them but they do look a bit hiking boot style ... would have to see the skirt really

lannistunut · 27/10/2022 13:20

There is no such thing as 'too' anything - it just depends on what looks good and what you want to wear.

I could imagine them looking great.

Annasgirl · 27/10/2022 13:46

I love them - I could imagine Holly Willoughby wearing them with a midi dress if that’s the look you’re going for.

Mirabai · 27/10/2022 13:47

They could potentially work.

Pugalicious · 27/10/2022 13:49

They look perfect to me. I would wear them

SalviaOfficinalis · 27/10/2022 13:50

I love them, just clumpy enough.

Fraaahnces · 27/10/2022 13:51

I really like them

CountryCousin · 27/10/2022 13:52

They seem made for exactly that purpose, @HCHQ.

theemmadilemma · 27/10/2022 13:53

That's the trend isn't it, big clucky biker boots.

GettingStuffed · 27/10/2022 13:54

I have a similar pair which I wear with my floaty maxi, although they can look a bit Victorian with one of my others

EmmiJay · 27/10/2022 13:58

Those boots are more hiker style so might throw off what you're trying to achieve. New Look have in some very nice ankle boots in a velvety fabric that would work better.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 27/10/2022 14:07

I think it's too near to the 90s Grunge look for me - at the moment the style of boots that people are wearing with skirts and dresses has changed to a smoother shape.

I could see these working well with tights and a knitted mini though

Mirabai · 27/10/2022 17:45

Hmm I don’t think OP’s are much different than any of these:

https://www.wearsmymoney.com/shopping/pretty-dresses-and-chunky-boots/

I don’t personally like the ones in the OP, I’d prefer them to be a bit neater, but they’re not for me.

MsLucyEyelesbarrow · 11/11/2022 17:31

If you love them and feel confident wearing them, they will look great; style is about 95% finding something that makes you feel great, and only about 5% wondering what anyone else will think about it.

Now I’m off to try and find them in an 8; your linked website only goes up to a 7. I think they are awesome, but my opinion is only a tiny sliver of that 5%, so you should ignore it 😄

MsLucyEyelesbarrow · 11/11/2022 17:36

…they may be cheaper at House of Fraser, by the way. And they have them in an 8

AnnieSnap · 11/11/2022 18:50

They initially have a hiking boot vibe, but then the suede really elevates them. Totally cool with dresses and skirts. Great find 🙂

Chig26 · 11/11/2022 18:56

That’s the fashion these days, if it feels right for you, go for it.

FayCarew · 11/11/2022 19:04

Not keen.

dontgobaconmyheart · 11/11/2022 19:51

Maybe, if the jumper was very chunky to balance it out and you were going for a certain look. They do err on the side of walking boots to me. I do like them and would definitely wear them on a walk or out with the dog on the weekend but probably wouldn't style them as part of a 'normal' outfit for fashion purposes.

Ddot · 11/11/2022 19:52

I wear dr martens with a skirt so why not. Just go for it.

Wiennetta · 11/11/2022 22:34

You definitely can. They’re a copy of the Grenson Nanettes. If you google Grenson Nanettes you’ll get lots of styling ideas including with midi skirts and dresses etc.

Penguinsaregreat · 11/11/2022 22:38

I think they’ll be fine.

Mac11 · 13/11/2022 06:19

Far too heavy and clumpy. You must think so too or you'd never ask the question!?

FinnysTail · 13/11/2022 06:23

I wouldn’t wear them but my 21 year old dd lives in her clumpy boots
