Flat boots for jeans

Magenta82 · 26/10/2022 15:31

I'm looking for some comfy flatish boots to wear with jeans. Ankle high, I've only ever worn knee boits with skirts, I prefer real leather to fake, probably black and would stretch to about £200 for the right ones.

In the past I would have gone for DMs, but the quality and comfort isn't there anymore. I was considering Solovair but I'm thinking that at my age (early 40s) I should probably go for something a bit more sophisticated?

I have no idea what is fashionable and don't really care, I just want something good quality that will last. Most of the high street shops I would have gone to in the past have gone so I guess I need to look online but don't know where to start.

Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Go for the Solovair Astronaut boot. They are liKe smarter DMs.
It depends what style of jeans you wear and how you wear them, though.
I like the look of Lanx boots but I've not tried them (yet).

Other brands that are comfortable and last well include Fly London, Gabor, Josef Siebel, Barbour, Timberland, and I'm sure someone will mention a few others.
These are not particularly trendy brands but are good quality.

M&S and John Lewis are usually quite good for having ones that are trendy without being expensive, but I'm not sure how long they would last.

Ooo the astronaut boots are nice, I also like the dealer, a Chelsea boot is always smart I guess.

I had a look at Lanx and they look good quality and comfortable but I don't love the look of any of them really.

I wear a mix of skinny and straight leg jeans, they are always too long because I have very short legs. I wear them with trainers or over a pair of black pointed mid cuban healed boots, which look good but are uncomfortable after a few hours on my feet.

John Lewis used to be my go to shop to find clothes and shoes, love a department store. But all the ones near me have shut, I have to go at least 45 minutes away for a department store now which makes it more of an event than a quick shopping trip!

I have the dealer boots in black hi-shine and the astronauts (Toast Jade) in burgundy rub-off, and wear them a lot. I'm usually in straight or skinny jeans, or I wear them with skirts and pinafores.

I have several pairs of Hotter Whisper. Lovely leather.

KirstenBlest · 26/10/2022 18:56

Hotter are underrated IMO. Some of the styles are ones that might be a bit hard to style, but they are nice to wear.

Give a little height without being a heel.

The hotter surrey boots look good

Air & Grace Jessa boots are really lovely and extremely comfortable.

I absolutely love these:

Currently pondering.

I like those.

I had a few pairs of heels from Hotter in the past, they were so comfy, quirky looking, not for everyone, but great when I was working in London and doing a fair bit of walking.

It's difficult to know what to wear if you are walking a lot in your job or hurrying on foot during a commute. I usually wear trainers and take a change of shoes, but that's not such a good look.

Feet are so complicated and have to last a lifetime, so the shoes need to work, and that comes before looks.

Brands like Hotter, Skechers, Gabor etc aren't much liked on here, but some of their styles are great.
