Long necklaces over jumpers?

DoodlePug · 24/10/2022 11:45

Could anyone advise on necklaces that would work over a light/cashmere crew neck jumper?

I've never done this, is it at all stylish/current? I have big boobs and look ridiculous in higher neck lines without something to break it up so thought it might be an option.

Thank you

It works for me. Necklace needs to finish below the boobs but preferably closer to belly button area. I also got a tip from a John Lewis personal shopper to buy little shoulder pads and this helps with my boob proportions too.

I'd never have thought about shoulder pads but you may be right, I know you can get little ones that attach to your bra straps. Worth a go.

Where's the best place to go for this type of necklace? Etsy seems the place for everything these days but takes so long to find anything (I am lazy!)

Take a look at Accessorize OP. They often have longer length necklaces.

Next and Marks usually have longer necklaces.

If I wear anything over a jumper i.e even just a lanyard to work, it instantly bobbles. I feel it would be worse with a necklace unless it's a very smooth resin type necklace

I feel very matronly when I wear necklaces over knitwear. I shall watch for tips.

Ooohh I'm never fashionable but am so feeling this as a look this winter, I'm loving these green glass beads (reminds me of the poem of the same name)
Milk glass 1950's triple set hasn't arrived yet but I'm excited for those.

Crew neck and knitted don't go with necklaces IMO. I would keep to earrings only.

For autumn I'm loving a triple string tigers eye and this vintage amber string.

I have my eye on some jade beads but quite a specific look so still searching.

This is genius! I spend a FORTUNE on knitwear with ever- so- slightly voluminous shoulders to balance out my huge chest! Thank you! I’m off to Amazon immediately!

I bought two long necklaces from charity shops for £3. And £1.50 so it might be worth having a look there.

DoodlePug · 24/10/2022 20:54

Loving these examples, thank you.

This is interesting
I avoid long necklaces over jumpers because I think it attracts attention to my chest and the necklaces don't sit correctly

maybe it's about finding the right necklaces. Hmm.

It's not stylish or current in the sense that's it's not currently fashionable, but if you like the way it looks go for it. It would be a boring world if we all wore the same things!

AMillionMugsNoTeabags · 24/10/2022 22:11

shoulder pads that attach to bra straps is a really great idea…. Do you have a link? All I can find are sew in ones…

re necklaces, if they’re heavy enough and jumper is big/soft enough so the necklace ‘nestles’ I think it looks good. If the necklaces just hangs off the shelf, not so much.

These should be suitable lagenlookclothinguk.co.uk/collections/necklaces
