Can any hair experts help me? Hair dyed way too dark with a toner

Hey all, I have/had full head blonde highlights, my hair was like a medium golden blonde.. I went to a new salon yesterday, I wanted a dark blonde (but still blonde) I've now got medium brown hair with zero blonde left, I've washed it a few times and it has lightened up a bit, you can see some of my old highlights in the background but the strands look very dull... the salon told me that it will be the toner making it too dark and that toner isn't permanent.. I have booked into a different salon that I've used before and a stylist I trust, on Friday for a full head of highlights... do you think they will be able to get my hair blonde again? I'm really worried that it wont be fixable :( will it be easy enough to get hair that was previously highlighted and had a brown toner put over it, back to blonde?

This happened to me.
I wouldn't rush with highlights yet.
Keep washing your hair, let the toner fully wash out. Then if not happy. Proceed

I did this for 6 weeks. I now have level 9 blonde hair again!

I have had my hair dyed a darker colour than I wanted several times and the answer is to use a clarifying shampoo (don't ask!) such as Head and Shoulders which will tone down or remove the recent colour which you don't like.
If you're seeing another hair dresser I'm sure it'll be fine, they will deal with it.

Thanks both, have washed with head and shoulders twice, it has definitely made my hair lighter than it was when I left the salon, and you can see that there are highlights underneath.. but it still looks really bad 😬 praying the the other stylist can help me on Friday 😩🙏🏻

The trouble is a dark blonde in hairdressing terms is brown. I obviously don't know what range they use but for example:

Saying that though if a client has come in asking for dark blonde they should realise that they need to go at least a couple of shades lighter than what the colour description is.

Hey lee Stafford bleach blondes lightening shampoo, conditioner and toning treatment, leave each on for as long as you can. I left each on for about an hour each and just carried on doing other thing while it was in. I did this every other day and it really made a massive difference

That is basically the colour I have to be honest.. but surely she should of managed my expectations when I said dark blonde 🤔 considering how light my hair was before.. I'm just hoping I can have a full set of highlights put on this and a lighter toner added ..

@sadabouthair she definitely should have gone lighter, I'm not in hairdressing anymore but when I was I'd have probably gone for an 8.
You may not need a full head of foils, a short bleach bath should be fine I'd have thought.

Thank you, I had about an inch of root growth before so the top of my head is really really dark now, and she's added some really brassy stripes to the top for some reason :(

I would honestly go to a salon and have a professional fix - as an ex hairdresser this sounds a bit of a mess to try and sort with head and shoulders - as good as it is x

sadabouthair · 24/10/2022 07:05

Thanks @Bargoed I'm going to a different salon on Friday to hopefully get it fixed.. I'm just hoping they will be able to do something about it :(
