How to dress this down? Pics

I have a similar skirt to this which is sitting unworn in my cupboard. I'm not a heel wearer but can wear flattish boots. How would you style this to tone it down a bit? Maybe a black crewneck? I think it's slightly too small to tuck in.

Black crewneck (or dark grey even better?) would tone things down a bit, but I think it depends on the shoes you feel happy in. Flat black boots with a dark jumper, or if you have them, clean ish white trainers and a crew neck sweatshirt would dress the skirt down really well. Sweatshirt could be black / dark grey / pale grey.

Would a fine knit maroon jumper work?

Slouchy jumper cream or black with woolly tights and casual boots

That's gorgeous! It's never going to be toned down really, it's a centre stage item for days when you want to look amazing! But I would go for a graphic tea and oversized cardigan and chunky boots. Any nice blouse and smart footwear will elevate it further.

@dudsville thank you. Mine isn't as nice as this but I've worn a lot of v necks generally before, never crew necks because I have a big bust but its a shame I can't wear this skirt more so im going to try.

@frogis what sort of trainers?

Would a black cardigan and vest look too drab?
