Good home nail gel kit

Hiding bitten nails as I type - I need to buy a home gel kit for dd, any time surprise her but it’s a foreign language to me. Are the cheaper ‘Beetle’ company ones as good as ‘Mylee’. Is it worth the extra £20 for a professional over a starter kit? Anyone got any ideas? Thank you!

I have a Sensationail gel kit and when done properly, it's brilliant and the gel lasts really well

That is great to know. Done properly - is that slowly? Am sure she knows, actually!

@Middledazedted I also have the Sensationail kit and can’t fault it 😊 have had it a good few years and it’s still going strong!!
Worth keeping an eye out at Boots star gifts over the next wee while if you don’t need it immediately - they usually do a “better than half price” kit at some point in the lead up to Christmas with the full starter kit and a couple of colours 😊
Sensationail themselves usually run some great deals deals online too 😊

Will keep an eye out- thanks both

I have Mylee, my mum bought it for me a couple of Christmases ago and it’s the most used present I have ever received. Absolutely love it and great results! If you’ve got any questions about it just ask 😊

Can I jump in and ask how you remove gel at home ?

I use this from Mylee mylee.co.uk/products/mygel-by-mylee-magic-gel-remover-15ml?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PMax%20Shopping/?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PMax%20Shopping&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqc6aBhC4ARIsAN06NmO7_8KVQDaEQl4SOFGo7CzPIpQxLxvQfVIfv8tX_0kqAFAvc2hOPF8aAgnxEALw_wcB - works super quickly and then I use one of these to scrape off whatever remains on and push my cuticles back at the same time :) mylee.co.uk/products/mylee-metal-cuticle-pusher?_pos=11&_sid=043386f11&_ss=r

hope that helps!!

I have the mylee kit which is fab but I use bluesky gel for base, colour and top coat I find that better than other brands. Plus Amazon have a great range of colours!

Matildahoney · 22/10/2022 19:29

@Cupcakegirl13 Poundland do acetone gel nail remover, gently file the top layer of the nail to remove the top coat, soak a cotton pad in it, wrap each nail in foil for 10 mins, use an orange stick to scrape off what has broken down, soak again if necessary, repeat until it is all off.

I have a Mylee lamp and have tried several. different polishes from cheap to expensive but have to say the Mylee polishes are great and a reasonable price and do seem to last well, I have just brought their foils and they are great fun to play with.

I got a great mylee starter kit on groupon

Middledazedted · 23/10/2022 00:09

Am feeling quite enthusiastic about it all now!

Yes, giving it enough time under the UV lamp to dry, not applying too many layers of colour or too much top coat - it took me a couple of attempts to get it right so they lasted a good length of time but worth the money when you get the hang of it!
