What to wear on top with wider leg style jeans, if you aren’t flat of tummy

I never liked skinnies as they always slid down on me, and I hated constantly pulling them up. I tried many brands over the years.

So I have no desire to return to skinnies, but I’m struggling with what to wear with wider leg styles. I’m 5”7 and a 10/12 so hardly overweight but my tummy isn’t flat so not sure I can pull off the high waisted wide leg jeans with a tight top tucked in look. But baggy tops just look wrong.

Today I wore balloon jeans with a loose (but not over-size) chunky jumper and my husband took a few photos and I just look huge !

So what are you wearing on top with looser style jeans? Thanks

How about a sweatshirt?

I carry my weight on my lower tummy.

I tend to size up in wide leg or boyfriend style jeans and then French tuck. For me, the jeans have to be high waisted though.

The range of what suits my tummy is really specific (separated stomach muscles so a bit dome-like 😁but the same size as you):
For wide legged trousers, they need to be fitted over the hips and very top of thighs. The top I'm wearing then needs to be flared and the hem needs to sit just above the widest part of the hip. That then gives me a shape because you see the curve of the hip.
It sounds really obsessive but I'm not that bothered that I stick to it all the time. It's just that if I want to wear wide trousers that flatter me then I've realised that's the only combination of top length/trouser fit that doesn't make me look like a blob.😂
