What do I wear with this gorgeous pink pleated skirt...

So I just bought this skirt in pink, in the sale in Uniqlo. I'm not sure what possessed me, but I really like the colour - not only do I never know what to wear with pleated skirts, I just haven't got a clue to wear with the colour either...so, on top - should it be casual/ short/ tight/ tucked in/ what colour (black seems too harsh with it, otherwise I'd just wear a black polo neck)?

...and what footwear..I know trainers look nice with midi skirts, but it's too cold to wear without tights, and black tights look weird with all my trainers...and I really like ankle boots, but I'm quite short, so there's a bit of a stumpy look going on, so knee high boots are what I would go for..but they seem a bit dated now - although I'm happy to buy a new pair as I know I would wear them a lot. Any suggestions!!! Thank you.

If you like bold colours you could pair with red short sleeved polo neck top. I would.

If you like to be safer: then black or navy

I’d go for a fitted top that meets at the waist in either black, white or cream with black tights, with any “subtle” trainers (ie: not a bold primary colour).

I think of black polo neck is perfect for it. Or a stripey top just as the model is wearing his also perfect.

I would go bold, red or orange top. Other colours could be bottle green or navy blue. Shorter tops work or tucked in.

That’s lovely. Black isn’t great with brights; I’d go for grey-marl, or khaki, or possibly navy. A fine-knit crew neck jumper that can be tucked in. Flat ankle boots.

A graphic tee and an oversized cardigan for casual autumn/spring.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 20/10/2022 07:59

That’s lovely, I’d go for a cream fitted top, not black.

AquaticSewingMachine · 20/10/2022 08:12

I'd wear a white graphic T-Shirt and big clompy black boots.

BuryingAcorns · 20/10/2022 08:25

I'd put it with a cream fine knit sweater and chunky ankle boots.

This sort of look but chunkier boots

Yes, realise that in real life , cream or grey marl works better then black - I have so many black tops, I thought it would be easy to style but in reality it’s too harsh. Thank you.

Start with the foot wear you have and try them all with the skirt and see what works. Same with all your tops. I wear my pleated skirts with sweatshirts and converse boots, I'm
5 feet I.
If you have black boots try them with your black tops, I think it could work. I know there was a thread recently that was anti black and brights together but in the real world it’s a good option.
If you can’t work out the shoe/boots/tights combo then the skirt would look lovely in the spring with white trainers and a t shirt/denim jacket/cardigan/jumper.

I think that shade of pink would go well with grey, taupe, chocolate brown or dark blue. You can definitely wear that length with long boots, but it might work with short boots if they are medium heeled and either lace-up or have a v-shaped opening at the front so they don't cut your legs off straight at the ankle. I don't think that length, shape and colour of skirt would really go with very clompy, unfeminine boots.

Tights, DM boots, plain tee (white or black) and a black leather jacket.

Thank you all.
