Why does DD's hair do this?

Dd has long, straight hair. Possibly fine but there's a hell of a lot of it.

When she washes it, if she doesn't blow dry it completely then her hair ends up just looking like it's still wet even when it's dry. She can never leave her hair to air dry as it just ends up looking damp/oily even though it isn't. Even with the hairdryer it takes forever to dry and some patches sometimes look damp even when dry.

Does anyone know why it does this? It's a real pain! She's 13. Thanks.

I used untangle my daughter’s hair, while she watched tv, with a comb, taking small portions working from the ends, then I plaited it as much as I could. This stopped it matting during the night and easy to comb in the morning.
