What to pack for a cruise

I've randomly booked a cruise for me and tween DD this - leaving this Sunday.

I mean I know what to pack/wear broadly (unlike DD who will probably pack a swimsuit and a pair of wellies) but I don't know how dressy I could get away with in the evenings.

I literally never dress up nowadays. It's Royal Caribbean- wonder or the seas round the med.

Will there be a chance to get fancy? How fancy? Especially going to see the entertainment.

Has anyone been recently?

What I'm really asking is should I dig out of retirement and pack a pair of my loved, but rarely worn, heels?

Pack something a size bigger. Everybody puts on a few pounds on a cruise.

Most RC cruises have a formal night on the second day of your cruise itinerary, regardless of the length of the cruise. If your cruise is long enough to have a second formal night, this will either be on day 5 or day 6.
Formal night means evening gowns and cocktail dresses for most people, but not everybody dresses up to the nines. I’ve found that on cruises from Southampton people generally dress up more than they do on RC cruises in the Bahamas and Caribbean.
They also have smart casual nights. The dress code is similar to that that you might wear to a nice restaurant at home. Any dress/skirt or trousers/blouse combination would be suitable. I do always find it’s easier to dress to the dress code as a woman, it’s easy to dress up a simple outfit with jewelry or shoes. If you were wearing smart, dark-colored jeans I think that this would be okay.

Oh marvellous. I'm definitely going to stick a few proper dresses in.

How exciting. DD is going to be agog as I'm normally in riding clothes. Or ahem "leisure wear".

I was on Wonder of the seas two weeks ago. It's an amazing ship and you will have an amazing time. There is a formal night but not everyone dresses up and also a dress your best night. There was a white night and Caribbean night.

Book to see the ice show and aqua theatre both fab shows!
