Just ordered on the website. I'm a spur of the moment person so they got me at the right time Grin. Quite excited though!

What's so special about these? Why are they so expensive? Its just an oversized hoody isn't it?

fudgefiesta · 14/10/2022 09:36

Yes they basically are. But the feedback on here seems to suggest that they are super super warm. It's already cold in my house so I want to make sure I can work from
home comfortably without heating the house all day. I've completely fallen for the hype, though Grin

I don't get how they can be warmer than a normal hoody and layers underneath, and surely you can't actually do anything in them as they are so big? £98 on an oversized hoody, no thank you

fudgefiesta · 14/10/2022 10:35

For two not one. They are £80 individually which is obscene. Which is why they've sucked me in with the offer.
Honestly I feel so chilly right now that anything likely to help me stay warm is appealing.

I bought a copy from Amazon at £19, super warm, I’m buying some more for extended family.

Stretchandsnap · 14/10/2022 10:39

I bought this offer for my daughters and they are delighted with them. They are very warm and snuggly

TizzyTruss · 14/10/2022 10:40

Kuddlys are 109 for 4 with an offer code - are oodies better?

Whataboutye · 14/10/2022 10:49

Thank you, just ordered for my daughter for Xmas, and of course 1 for myself.

ShineOnYouLikeMorningStar · 14/10/2022 10:52

I did actually buy Oodies for DD & myself a few weeks ago. I get extremely cold (am home all day as I'm disabled due to a chronic pain disorder) & she wanted one as well. They are really warm, it's not just the thickness but the length, I'm almost 5'3" & it's a bit below my knees. Can sit cross legged or tick my knees up on the sofa & it covers me completely. And the arms are long enough that I can pull the ends down so my hands are covered (or pull them out for doing stuff, they have elastic cuffs). They weren't cheap but I love it.

DH is 6'4" & tried it on the other day... he's now wishing he'd got one as well. TBH it's more like a long jumper on him but still...

I would take them to the laundrette to wash though unless you have a very large capacity washing machine. IDK how heavy they are but I'm not sure I'd want to risk washing them in a home machine. Definitely heavier than a single duvet. And you have to air dry them, which took us about 2 days.

I’ve got a kuddly, which I understand to be pretty similar in size to an Oodie. It’s very thick but to be honest I much, much prefer my Kmart one from Amazon for less
than half the price:

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B09PKMJ7YL/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=AOZNBK3FJUV5Y&psc=1

Main reason is that the Kmart one reaches to my ankles which is lovely (I’m 5’5). I tend to get cold legs and a hot upper body. It’s also big but not too bulky so I can wear it to cook and do all sorts of other tasks in, and the big kangaroo pouch is at a useful height so I can get all the way into it without having to bunch up the material or bend my knees! It’s lined with lovely Sherpa and washes fine. I do have to say that it does look very slightly less
plush and well made than the kuddly but i’m
confident it’ll last fine.

The kuddly is a bit thicker, I think, but a lot less warm because it’s a lot shorter but also wider so there’s more space for cold air to circulate under it. The pocket is too big and low so I can reach stuff that’s in there without contorting either myself or it. And it’s so bulky that I have to take it off to do normal activities like cooking or hanging up the washing.

I just find that as the weather cools I reach for my cheap Kmart one over the expensive kuddly every time. And in fact I’m thinking about getting a second.

Enjoy your Oodies OP we love ours.

They're lined, big pockets, huge and super comfy.

cliffdiver · 14/10/2022 17:48

They cannot be machine washed, which puts me off buying one.

Purpleavocado · 14/10/2022 17:48

DH keeps saying I look like a teenager in mine. It is really warm and soft. The only thing I don't like is that it makes me hold my arms out slightly to the side as there is so much bulky material.
Not sure I'd wear mine while WFH unless I kept the camera off on calls, would look a bit much.

I thought they just can't be tumble dried? I've washed mine and it's fine.

Yaissa · 14/10/2022 17:49

I have an oodie and a primark one.

No difference

Really?! I wash and dry mine weekly?!

Mine says can be washed but not dried in the tumble dryer - love mine - worth every penny - I paid £54 quid and then bought a Primark one for £17 which is good but not as warm

cliffdiver · 14/10/2022 18:29

You're all right, they can be washed in the washing machine... no idea why I thought they couldn't Confused

Probably going to order one now!

Floralnomad · 14/10/2022 18:32

We have Oodies and they really are excellent , we’ve also tried the Primark ones and whilst they are lovely they are definitely not as warm .

Jules912 · 14/10/2022 18:36

I love mine, they are bulky but I find I can do most things whilst wearing it.

sandytooth · 14/10/2022 18:38

The oodies are toooo warm. Better to get a less warm one and wear a t-shirt underneath

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 14/10/2022 18:40

I would love one but cant justify even that discount.

Me and the kids all have Primark ones and it keeps me nice and snuggly.

Yes they can?

inheritanceshiteagain · 14/10/2022 19:08

I used this offer and just love mine. wearing it now with no heating on and im too hot! Theyre not just a warm hoody, that ridiculous. Actually DS child size one is like a hoody on me. My adult one swamps me and I snuggle into it completely

That's what I mean. At certain times of the month I'm going to run far too hot in an oodie much better to get a thinner one.
