Hi, I’ve recently started using dermatica,
Custom formula

Tretinoin 0.015%
Niacinamide 4%
Azelaic Acid 4%

im only using it 3 times a week but my redness during the day is insane!
woke up this morning, fine. Now I’m at work, got a little warm and my face is tingling and I look like a tomato 🤦🏻‍♀️

does anyone else get this?
will it get better?

TIA

Also has anyone suffered from a bloodshot eye with tret? 😬

When you say you've recently started using tret, have you started 3 times a week immediately? If so, I'd start at once or twice a week and buffer it with moisturiser and build up from there. I'd also strip back your routine if you using any other acids and then slowly reintroduce them.

I have the same cream but no Azelic acid, I have peeling put no redness. I use mine everyday, occasionally skipping my chin if it is particularly peely.

Hi
You've probably got some in you eye. Before you put in on in the evening eve Vaseline or a thick cream over the eye area to protect.
with regard to a red face. Could it be Sun damage ? Not using sunblock several times a day ? In the early days especially , you have to be extra vigilant with the spf, and apply religiously .

Also try sandwiching , cleanse , apply a light moisturiser , wait 10 minutes , apply tret then apply a richer moisturiser after 15-20 minures.

Is it definitely happening after applying Tret? Any possibility these are unrelated hot flushes?

Agree though that 0-3 times a week could be the problem.

HappyHoppyHippo · 14/10/2022 20:28

So I started about 5 weeks ago, the bloodshot eye came after a week, I carried on with tret until about 2 weeks ago then stopped in case that was causing my eye problem.
I have been using sunscreen everyday but just once in the morning, it has been quite sunny here as well 🤦🏻‍♀️.

thinking I might have jumped back into the tret without giving my skin time to get use to it.

I personally found tret and Azelaic acid together too much for my skin, it was like it was literally resurfacing my skin every night. It was actually quite effective on my brown spots as it sloughed them right off but a lot of peeling. I stopped after a month. The formula without it is more gentle imo. Do you know why you have the AA?
