Autumn/winter dresses

I've decided to embrace the dress - just one item to think about!

I'm 10/12 and 5'2" - would jersey skater-style look OK? I prefer 3/4 sleeves, knee or midi-length. I'm too short and old for the prairie look.

Any recommendations or ideas?

Hangs out waiting for some great winter dress suggestions! 🤔

I have lived in dresses for the first time this summer! At the moment I'm wearing my summer ones with a jumper over & chunky boots but I need some inspiration!

I've also been in summer dresses but they're beginning to look a bit odd! I need inspiration and ideas Smile

Following. I tend to wear above knee cord pinafores from Vinted but fancy something else

Lovely dress there, @Turnaroundandigone in all the colours.

I think my DD4 would go for quite a few of the Pour Moi dresses.

I want the answer to this also.. I have seen some nice ones in the apricot area of new look. I see so many people in lovely autumn dresses and have no idea where they got them from!

Skater style dresses are flattering but they don't seem to be "in" as I haven't seen many..

The thing with skater dresses in Autumn is that the wind lifts them - exposing your knickers 😂

Therefore the fabric needs to be a little heavy and you have to wear thick tights!

personal experience

@ImissyouBR1
What brands do you find are above the knee in pinafores? I have bought one from vinted but it was really short. I'm looking for something closer to my knees than my bum!

ImissyouBR1 · 13/10/2022 20:18

Hey @BooksAndChooks - mine are from New Look, Dorothy Perkins and Next. If there is no waist band they tend to be a little longer.

I found pinafores with waistbands much shorter!

No idea why this is. I wore a cord skirt today by Oasis (from Vinted) and it was a nice midway length. 😊 (I'm 5ft 2)

I was thinking of skater-ish, sort of heavier fabric and not so flared (so avoiding wind lift!) and not too long and with 3/4 sleeves - not asking for much!

I love this dress www.newlook.com/uk/womens/clothing/dresses/petite-black-paisley-shirred-high-neck-mini-dress/p/843190309

But they've sold out in regular. And just have petite left (unless I can't find it!)

Oh my god look at this price. Is that real?? £14?

ImissyouBR1 · 13/10/2022 20:35

I bought that dress for £14 and saved £56 😂

Bemyclementine · 13/10/2022 20:39

I love that dress! Argh tempted.

MissRainbowBrite · 13/10/2022 20:39

I've just bought this one from George at Asda
direct.asda.com/george/women/dresses/pink-soft-touch-skater-dress/GEM962187,default,pd.html?cgid=D1M1G20C1
Only £14 and it's lovely, fits well and is so soft. I'm only 5"2 and it's knee length on me.

Hello I am also 5’2 and a 10-12. A big fan of dresses. Boden, M&S, Great Plains, and shorter cos styles are my go to. Fat face do a style called Nina which is universally flattering. I’ve also just bought their cord shirt dress for the winter
