Outfit for a do

Help! Husband has his own business in marketing/PR. He is having a significant celebration in his office next week. Few hundred people. From 5-9 drinks type thing. I have a very dodgy hip and will only wear trainers or chunky boots or I will be unable to walk for days. Would prefer to buzz round doing than chat - we are chalk and cheese.

Post Covid I have completely lost confidence. Help me choose an outfit that will be appropriate, ideally a bit quirky, work with footwear that won’t leave me in pain and can be reworn by a very casual person.

I am 5ft 6 and a size 10, bit messy round the middle, very pale skin.

What about a short dress, black, slightly above the knee. Thick black tights and chunky black flat boots (grensen style)? Trendy but comfy and flattering. Dress it up with some chunky statement jewellery

What about wearing R & B flatform trainers under black wide leg trousers, black or white cami/silk t-shirt and brightly coloured or sequin jacket?
