Why are so many pockets on coats this season so far back on the seam that you feel you're having to put your hands behind your back to find them? It ruins the line as I find if I put my hands in the pockets it looks and feels like I'm trying to drag all of the fabric forward.

Breast pockets on woman's T-shirts. I HATE them. Spoils patterns and stripes, and looks cheap ( although conversely must cost more to make). M&S is a particular culprit for this.

Pockets on womens jeans: too small to put a phone safely in

Pockets on dresses : largely non existent.

Pockets inside bags: either not there at all or too small to warrant anything other than a lipstick.

I agree that pockets are often in very odd places and, when able, especially on shirts and blouses, remove from clothing. You can tell when they are safe to remove and the items always look better for removing the oddly placed (and totally useless) breast pocket. Coats and other items are just badly designed and it is obvious that someone takes pleasure in us risking dislocating our shoulders to access them! As for high street shopping, having visited a large discount outlet centre in Swindon on Saturday, where every third shop seemed to be empty, I understand your frustration and it explains why my purchases this year have all been on-line!

Yes, I often put my stitch ripper to good use removing the offending breast pockets!

There was a perfectly nice quilted coat in Per Una ( bear with me...) but for reasons known only to the people who design these things, it had a large exterior breast pocket in parachute fabric slapped on.

I think I stood in front of it for at least three minutes muttering to myself.
