Affordable running leggings that don’t fall down?

Bookaholic73 · 11/10/2022 15:48

I’m looking for some affordable leggings for my run, but I can’t find any that don’t fall down after 5 mins.

I’ve been recommended Sweaty Betty and also LuLu Lemon, but I don’t want to spend that much in a pair of leggings.

Another vote for decathlon here. Some of them have nice big side pockets for phone and the warm ones for winter are good too.

Littleguggi · 11/10/2022 19:16

I rate superdry gymwear

Sorry I can't help but be jealous 😂
you must have tiny bums for leggings to fall down!

I'm apple shaped and it's the huge belly that's the problem, it literally falls out the top without a drawstring. Now who's jealous?

Bookaholic73 · 11/10/2022 19:19

Thank you everyone, I appreciate the suggestions.

I definitely don’t have a small ass, quite the opposite (hence the running).
Ill have to keep an eye on the lululemon sale, but I’ll start with the M&S ones, as their sports bras are really good.

I love tikiboo leggings (and have far too many pairs)! They have a drawstring to stop them slipping. Also have good size pockets to fit all I need to take out with me. They last well and are very flattering.

I do have a pair of sweaty betty leggings I got in the sale and I love them. My only criticism is they are quite thick so I find I get too hot in them sometimes.

AuntieStella · 11/10/2022 19:40

Decathlon

Very good quality, easily the best VFM. Loads of pockets. Drawstring if you use one. Various lengths and weights of fabric

Prices around £15-30. Performance excellent

LolaSparkle · 11/10/2022 19:47

I've just bought the TrackHer leggings from Amazing Jane Actuvewear and they're incredible! They have a small pocket to fit a tracking device to help improve womens safety when running. Plus they come in the most beautiful colours and prints 😍

NeverDropYourMooncup · 11/10/2022 19:47

Queenie Ke on Amazon. About £20-25 depending upon the exact ones you want, high waisted, high spandex content. The high waist means they stay over the top of your pelvic bones or my stomach and the spandex (20% in the ones I get) means they feel absolutely secure.

I like having multiple pairs of leggings that I can absolutely muller, rather than think 'Oh, God, these cost me seventy quid!' - it gives me the money to bang out £140+ on footwear.

Floydthebarber · 11/10/2022 19:50

Decathalon. Also have a sports bra from there that is reslly, really good. I've only ever had shock absorber before but this one was cheaper and equally as good.

Gherkingreen · 11/10/2022 19:53

Ron Hill are classics and have a drawstring so you can pull them in nice and snug.
Other than that, I love Matalan workout leggings - cheap, thick enough to hold you in, nice high waist, decently long leg - serious good, no-nonsense kit that washes well.

greenacrylicpaint · 11/10/2022 19:58

I have a great pair from h&m
decathlon also has decent ones.

make sure to get the right size, ironically they slide down if they are too small.

FlippertyGibberts · 11/10/2022 19:59

Leggings fall down on me too, but only when I'm actually running for an extended period of time.

I find proper running leggings best, from companies like Ronhill or Nike.

DotBall · 11/10/2022 20:03

These from Amazon

I use these for horse riding and running, no movement at all.
As a guide I’m size 12 and fit a Medium, 14 would be a Large

Shopgirl1 · 11/10/2022 20:05

I wear Nike and Adidas, always stick with them, they never fall down, wash brilliantly and last really well, I usually run 4-6 times a week so they are in heavy rotation, I’ve had some 18 months or longer.

Tinkhasflown · 11/10/2022 20:18

Another vote here for the crz yoga leggings from Amazon. They are brilliant. I also like the nike ones with an internal tie waist.

tinseng · 11/10/2022 20:22

Buy some Sweaty Betty leggings secondhand. Make sure you have the right size.

Verite1 · 11/10/2022 20:50

My favourite ones are highwaisted gapfit 3/4 leggings with two pockets. I have sweaty Betty power leggings as well but prefer my gap ones.

Fedupwitheveryone · 11/10/2022 21:02

IUGA leggings from Amazon. £20-£30 so not the cheapest out there BUT honestly better than my Sweaty Betty ones. 3 years inc running and not a hole or any other faults

I have the black fleece lined

BrianWankum · 11/10/2022 21:11

Great thread. I have some cheap 3/4 length Simiya ones from Amazon because I wanted big pockets for my phone, and they’re great, but I can’t find anything else I like as much. I’m going to check out all of these recommendations.

I accidentally bought some of those ruched arse crack leggings the other night because it was late and I was only looking at pockets, and didn’t go through enough pictures to notice!

RainyDaysareCarp · 11/10/2022 21:14

Under Armour

AuntieStella · 11/10/2022 21:22

@BrianWankum Best for pockets I've found recently are Flanci - most are fairly bright though

www.flanciactivewear.co.uk/

Of the main runners' brands, I think New Balance has the best pockets

greenacrylicpaint · 11/10/2022 21:39

those ruched arse crack leggings seem very popular where I am.

they look great on young & slim women. middle aged ladies where gravity has worked it's magic - not so much

Zooeyzo · 11/10/2022 22:58

I bought aybl and they stay up quite well. I tried compression from more expensive brands but I found the band rolled down

JeanGabin · 11/10/2022 23:29

I have this problem too - and agree with everyone who says Ronhill. Sweaty Betty great too but expensive.
Nike I've also found work well, and very reasonable if you have an outlet nearby

ReviewingTheSituation · 11/10/2022 23:36

Another vote for Decathlon. I totally identify with the 'falling down' thing. I think the key is a drawstring and a high waist. Anything that sits on my natural waist is much more secure. It also keeps you much warmer in the winter.

I have friends who swear by Sweaty Betty, but I prefer my (much cheaper) Decathlon ones - I have several pairs.
