Nails peeling and breaking

Just that really- I’m early 40s, not menopausal, used to have good nails but in recent months they keep splitting, peeling and breaking. I’ve tried a paint-on nail hardener (Sally Hansen Diamond Strength) but it hasn’t helped.

Am I deficient in something? Any wonderful products you’ve tried? Thanks in advance :)

My nails were like this, although not related to menopause. I have recently started taking 'hair, skin and nail' vitamins, I actually started because my hair is thinning. But my nails are the best they have ever been. I'm really impressed with them.

Loccitane shea butter hand cream rubbed into base of the nails are the only cure I found out from a friend. Do it at night when TV is on

Protein and iron.

I've had flaky, rubbish nails forever. I've started eating more protein and recent blood tests revealed my iron was low. The dr has put me on iron tablets. Not sure if it's a coincidence but my nails, right now, are the best they've ever been, particularly since the protein.

Vitamins D3, B Complex and fish oil are good all rounders. They are all inexpensive. Keep you protein up too.

Barry M Gelly nail polish with their plumpy top coat works really well for me with Rimmel base coat. Takes a while as I do 2/3 coats of the polish but it really helps to protect my nails and stops them splitting etc.

Thanks all for those! I’ve noticed quite a bit of hair loss in the shower lately too come to think of it, so I’ll definitely buy those vitamins, up my iron and protein and look at the other things too. Will try and remember to report back in a few months…

Taking collagen tablets sorted my hails and hair loss. It took about 3 months to notice the difference.
I get mine from Superdrug.
