Swapping to another stylist at the same salon?

Hi, the politics of this seem tricky. My normal hair stylist, who also happens to be the manager, was away the other week and so another stylist cut my hair instead. I much prefer the way she did it. I’m very happy with the way my normal hairstylist colours my hair and so would like to keep her for the colours and have the other one for the cut.

does anyone have a view on how my normal hairstylist (the manager) would react to this? I feel it should be ok, but it does feel a bit awkward.

Anyone else had this?

Unless we know the manager, how could we possibly comment?

On the face of it id say if you're still using them for the cut it shouldn't be much of an issue.

I had this situation, I kept thinking how I’d approach it but then gave up and just moved to another salon. Not very helpful, I know, but I appreciate it’s tricky.

Your best bet is to only be available for your cut appointments on the managers day off. She couldn't take offence in that. I don't think you could go to one for cut and the other for colour on the same day without insulting the manager.

Thanks @Iknowthis1. This was my thinking. Trouble is that I’ve been going to her for 7 years so I think she’d start to smell a rat when I went back to her for the colouring. Oh dear!

I stared off with the manager and have moved stylist. I smile and make small talk with him whenever I go in. It isn’t awkward in the slightest but as a business owner I always thought he'd prefer to have my money than have me sitting with a particular stylist

Just make your appointment with the other stylist.
The manager should just be happy that their business is still making money. If asked, just say you fancied a change.
