What product do you use for intimate wash?

Do you use a specific separate item for intimate washing, or just whatever shower gel or soap you use for the rest of your body?

I occasionally but the fem fresh bottle when on offer but wasn't sure if it's considered any good or if there are any better alternatives?

No! Leave your vag alone. Delicate balance etc. Apart from wiping front to back and clean pants don’t do anything, just water.

Beyondshit · 07/10/2022 10:33

Absolutely not.

womaninatightspot · 07/10/2022 10:34

I use the same soap as for the rest of me. Nice soap though without lots of chemical fragrances.

Too much info but my pelvic floor is not what it used to be and I worry I’ll whiff if not cleaned outside with soap.

FuckingHateRats · 07/10/2022 10:34

Water. I guess it'll get the odd run off of shower gel/bubble bath, but not targeted use.

TheCraicDealer · 07/10/2022 10:34

I use plain soap on my bum but nothing on my vadge, and I certainly don’t go up and in with anything other than water. That’s a one way road to an itchy doot, my friend. It’s self cleaning, you don’t need any products.

Characterbuilding · 07/10/2022 10:56

Plain white, non-fragranced soap and water. Nothing else.

lannistunut · 07/10/2022 10:58

Femfresh is absolute marketing bullshit, save your money.

iekanda · 07/10/2022 11:00

Water only.

If you must, simple soap or baby soap.

blebbleb · 07/10/2022 11:01

I use sanex in the shower so that. I don't wash inside, but wash my bum and the outer parts. Would be a bit stinky otherwise!

SedentaryCat · 07/10/2022 11:01

Mild soap around the outside bits and leave the inside alone.

This!!!

Absolutely no need. Your vag is self cleaning. I'll sometimes use soap on bum, but definitely no soap or anything else up front. I use the hand held spray hose in my shower to target the water direct at both areas and that works great. Stop buying rubbish like Fem Fresh or special intimate wipes etc.

You're more likely to get thrush or an itchy cootch if you do!

GreyBlossom · 07/10/2022 11:03

I hesitate to ask but what is "intimate wash?"

I give between my legs a good wash with soap and it needs it! But not inside, surely?

CucumberCool · 07/10/2022 11:03

Stop washing your vag!! It's self cleaning and you will ruin the pH balance... That's what discharge is for. Honestly save your money and trips to the GP for BV, yeast infections and cystitis!

BackToGoingOnHoliday · 07/10/2022 11:04

As others - clean the outside with a little soap and lots of water. This did stop me having recurrent UTIs, but I’d never clean inside the vagina.
Has never entered my head to do that and agree it’s marketing bullshit.

BackToGoingOnHoliday · 07/10/2022 11:06

And even the cleaning outside is the very outside - the skin around the area rather than the delicate mucosal skin of the vulva. I’d worry you would damage that and cause different long term problems by it keratinising to cope with the chemicals you’re putting on it.
Save your money

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 07/10/2022 11:07

I clean my bum with the usual shower gel but don't put anything on my vag. A nurse at the gp told me not to when I got BV.

outtheshowernow · 07/10/2022 11:11

Water only

Swedishmeatball · 07/10/2022 11:12

No

ClaudineClare · 07/10/2022 11:13

Hmm.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 07/10/2022 11:14

plain soap like Simple.
Nothing else.

I really would think twice about commenting on this thread

I love these threads. The ambiguity because people won't use correct terminology. For the vagina, nothing. The vagina does not need rinsing out with water and you should absolutely never use any products or soaps. For the vulva, water and soap. Same as every other part of the body. Equally as for every other part of the body, it doesn't have to be every single day with soap.

I really would think twice about commenting on this thread

Especially when it seems to be OP's first post on MN.

bumpertobumper · 07/10/2022 11:17

Look up dr Jen gunther on the subject of intimate washes...
She is a gynaecologist who is very active on social media, has books blogs and podcasts.
This is a massive bugbear of hers.
Bottom line, don't ever use these products.

Hitatiks · 07/10/2022 11:17

Water.

I just despair of how women are encouraged nowadays to obsess about their genitals, shave this, special wash that, cosmetic surgery that, bleach this.

All this obsession is just the bastard child of misogyny and capitalism. Tell it all to F off and just get on with enjoying your c**t.
