What product do you use for intimate wash?

Do you use a specific separate item for intimate washing, or just whatever shower gel or soap you use for the rest of your body?

I occasionally but the fem fresh bottle when on offer but wasn't sure if it's considered any good or if there are any better alternatives?

Especially when it seems to be OP's first post on MN.

Methinks op maybe a very spciall laydee, stunning and brave and all that.

Quackpot · 07/10/2022 11:48

Water.

Noteverybodylives · 07/10/2022 11:59

And why does everyone think femfresh is so evil? It's unscented, PH balanced wash which means you can clean your vulva without messing up the PH.

That’s what it says but I used it one time and it gave me awful thrush and an awful smell which took about 2 weeks of washing with just plain water to eventually get rid of.

I threw it out after one use and never touched it again.

BadNomad · 07/10/2022 12:05

Tell me you're a man without telling me you're a man.

I leave mine to soak in a bucket overnight. Cold water only.

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 07/10/2022 12:07

I use water as when I use anything else even emollient down there it gets really itchy.
Only use soap for the arse crack and pits. Maybe my thighs but I keep it away from that area!

HauntersGonnaHaunt · 07/10/2022 12:07

I'm a cynical bastard, me so I'm telling you nowt about my vagina.

Are you sure that wasn't BV caused by something else? Could've been coincidence? I've always thought how bloody annoying it is that sperm is the opposite pH to vaginas... I literally can't have sperm inside me because it gives me BV. It's rank 😂

ErrolTheDragon · 07/10/2022 12:15

Our normal glycerine soap or shower gel except when DH gets a peppermint one.

I don't now if this is a man or not but I don't see why it's a silly question for a woman to ask.

I suffer intermittently from an overactive bladder and the nurse advised me not to use scented products but e45 or similar that is unscented as scented products can exacerbate the problem.
I mentioned it to my sister and she told me that years ago, when she was in her twenties, a lady she worked for had warned my sister similarly because she was waiting for some kind of serious operation regarding something down there (I cant remember exactly) that had been exacerbated by her use of certain products.

And I also remember publicity about not using talc. There was a woman who died of cancer and her daughter said that when she'd had an operation to remove the tumours, obviously before she died, they'd found little spots of talc. I think there was a campaign about it being carcinogenic.

I think it's so important that women are given this information but we're not. So what's wrong with asking?

femmm · 07/10/2022 12:21

You lot are a suspicious bunch! I am a regular but named changed for the post as bit of an embarrassing subject.

Genuinely wanted to know what others thought about wash specifically for down there and it seems the strong consensus is against. I agree with an earlier poster though about how or why fem fresh is so evil. Although I do sometimes find that when I use it, it actually generates more discharge than when I don't.

Apologies OP if you are genuine. But you can see why some of us are wary.

KimWexlersPonyTail · 07/10/2022 13:40

@femmm apologies, been caught out before with dubious poster. In answer to your question only ever Simple soap or baby soap.

This is awful. It's sold for use on babies! I don't understand how it gets inside the body though. I have to use it on my feet daily because it's that or get athletes foot.

I can't understand all the dirty mingers who "wash" using only water 🤢 . I use whatever soap/shower gel I'm using at the time. Never wash the inside obviously, that's the self-cleaning part.

Honestly these threads about how often people don't wash and what they don't use has put me off having sex with anyone other than my partner (if we broke up) who bathes daily, with soap, all over. I'd rather be celebate than sleep with any of these unhygienic people.

inheritanceshiteagain · 07/10/2022 11:31

Johnson's baby bath. Just one drop is sufficient. It's ridiculous to say just water because sweat builds up around the top of the legs and inner area and it smells. Been doing it for years and no issues. Being sexually active also is pretty smelly.

@inheritanceshiteagain Sorry but you will find every gynaecologist and dermatologist disagrees with your take on this.

Warm water is enough.

You know it's good stuff and can actually remove sweat. Amazing!

JuliaDorneys · 07/10/2022 16:37

Talc was shown to be implicated in ovarian cancer, rarely, as it was ascending into the vagina and moving towards the ovaries. It's been banned in the US for ages.

JuliaDorneys · 07/10/2022 16:40

@IndianSummer78 Hey listen up! It's medical opinion not to use perfumed products.

You are very lucky not to have got an irritation or anything from the products you are using.

There is a difference between putting talc on a baby's skin, (although I never have) and adult women filling their knickers with it to 'smell sweat' and suffering.

targetovariancancer.org.uk/about-ovarian-cancer/risk?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6N2U9rnO-gIVFGHmCh0hEAu9EAAYAiAAEgIVYfD_BwE Have a read.

IndianSummer78 · 07/10/2022 17:07

@JuliaDorneys I never said anything about using perfumed products? Personally I use plain products without scent or harsh chemicals. This is because I have eczema. Water alone does not remove sweat, dirt or excess skin oils and my skin makes its unhappiness known if I don't wash properly. I don't care what other dirty bastards do, I'm happy to be clean and stay away from them.

I never heard of people using talc on their genitals either, I suppose it's not the sort of thing you ask your friends 😆 I can see how it could get into a woman's body doing that. I thought you meant just putting it on your skin anywhere causes cancer. That's what shocked me since it's sold mainly for use on babies.

ClaudineClare · 07/10/2022 11:13

Hmm.

Quite.

BIWI · 07/10/2022 18:11

Wire brush and Dettol.

JuliaDorneys · 07/10/2022 18:21

@IndianSummer78
You are being really insulating to women who wash, following medical advice, which is to use water alone. Calling women 'dirty bastards' just makes you look foolish I'm afraid.

I suppose you think you know better than all the gynaecologists out there?

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 07/10/2022 21:31

@IndianSummer78

Wow how rude.
I have scarring from eczema as I react to ANYTHING down there, even emollients.. Yet apparently I'm a dirty bastard for using plain water.
Here's a hint, you can tell if it's not clean from the smell.

Lookingoutside · 07/10/2022 21:38

Soap to clean my vulva. It doesn’t go inside my vagina.

Your vagina cleans itself. Your vulva doesn’t so you will need something other than water. Nothing too perfumed but the special washes aren’t necessary.
