Air wrap or dryer

Hell please , I've got some birthday money and would like a Dyson hairdryer but confused about the air wrap, would I need a hairdryer as well? I've got thick hair just past my shoulders and do curl it a bit with straightners but takes ages

It has a dryer attachment. I LOVE mine, so expensive but really recommend. It’s worth checking out their outlet on eBay, I bought mine refurbished and it’s as good as new and still comes with a guarantee

Following :

I'm thinking about the Dyson, I have shoulder length wavy greying hair that is very fragile at the moment ( hair loss after illness ) . I don;t use a dryer so it looks a bit fuzzy at times
My DD has long wavy thick hair

The AirWrap wouldn't work for both of us though as there's a long barrell and a short (from what I've read )

I'm thinking the dryer as I can use the smoothing curved attachment .?
DD has straighteners (not the Dyson ones ) and I have a Babyliss Big brush but I really don't want to use that at the moment .

QVC has 4xEasyPay and free P&P at the moment so I'm very tempted .........

So I’ve just taken back the straighteners because they wouldn’t charge, luckily boots just gave me a refund because they were within the 12 month guarantee.

The hairdryer I don’t get on with personally I have curly hair so I do use the diffuser but I’ve never been able to use the straightening attachment with any success.

I haven’t tried the air dryer and I’d love to, but it feels too big a risk based on the other products

Shark have just released a version of the air wrap so worth looking at that. Still pricey but lower than the Dyson.

I've had an airwrap but then sold it after hair loss and cutting my hair short. It's grown a bit now and in better condition so would consider another but love that the shark version has a diffuser (I've got curly hair)

I've taken the plunge and ordered the Dyson hairdryer , hopefully it will inspire me to look a bit more polished !

Quitelikeacatslife · 07/10/2022 16:26

Thanks I'll look at the shark , I'm still unsure

I heartily recommend the dryer. I really wanted to love the Airwrap but it wrecked my hair in a very short space of time and it took ages to recover.

Having said that I very much liked the straightening brush but couldn't justify the cost. I really wish Dyson sold the brush on its own.

FredaFox · 08/10/2022 07:59

I love my air wrap and my hair is in much better condition than pre air wrap
I'm desperate to get the new attachment for smoothing hair
I think the new shark version looks great and would consider that should I ever need to replace the Air wrap
I'm tempted with the hair dryer as well

jeaux90 · 08/10/2022 11:53

Love my airwrap, best thing I ever bought for myself in terms of time it takes and the impact on my hair condition.

M0rT · 08/10/2022 12:01

I have the airwrap and love it! But I have naturally curly/frizzy hair. Friends with straighter hair that have tried it find the curls drop on them.
It is great if you have mobility issues too, I can't raise my arms for long enough to use a hairdryer so I didn't even consider it.
There are some shops in big cities that have them you can go in and try out if that's doable for you
Also if you want the Airwrap and share it with your daughter you can buy the attachments separately. So if you have short hair get the short airwrap and then buy her the long attachments for Christmas!

trevthecat · 08/10/2022 12:06

I have an airwrap. I have really thick, just below shoulder length, curly hair. I can go from towel dried to blow dried straight in 20mins and doing a curly blow in the same time. I absolutely love mine, had it 2 years now

The Dyson hairdryer is great. Mine is a short Bob so the air wrap is not suitable. I'd love the straighteners but think they will be a bit too big.

Good to read that , I have a bob-type style and I'm hoping that using the cpmb attachment and the weird smoothing curled attachment will smooth it .
I only wash my hair 2x week but I will do more if drying it is easier .

Huge investment moneywise but I've got the QVC guarentee so giving it a go .

(I can also forsee it disappearing into DD room)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/10/2022 18:08

comb

Beebumble2 · 08/10/2022 18:28

I have the dryer. My hair is in a short Bob and naturally wavy. The smoothing attachment is really good after blow drying straight. When I want wavy hair I just dry it naturally as the diffuser seems to dry it out too much.

DJSteves · 08/10/2022 20:59

@70isaLimitNotaTarget It will be great for short hair like a Bob. I've never used the diffuser attachment. But the main unit can dry my hair is 5 mins

LiftyLift · 08/10/2022 21:16

I’m so tempted by one. I bought a refurbished hoover on the Dyson outlet and was really pleased with it.

SuffolkBargeWoman · 08/10/2022 23:01

My airwrap has just died after three years. Given how expensive it was I'm really hacked off.

mrsbyers · 08/10/2022 23:05

I love my hairdryer , got the bargain of the decade on Thursday as someone was selling their airwrap as part of big moving house clear

mrsbyers · 08/10/2022 23:06

Clear out for £30 ! She had only used it a couple of times too - going to gift it to my niece though as she has much longer hair and likes to curl it etc

whitemats · 08/10/2022 23:13

I love my air wrap!! Haven't used my Dyson dryer since it arrived - I have curly hair past my shoulders and it's cut styling time in half. The condition is so much better too
