Stripe and Stare knickers

…are they really no VPL? And is the fabric cotton-like (not the horrible nylony stuff that most no VPL pants are)

They're made of bamboo I believe and are very soft, not nylony at all. I have a number of pairs - I quite like them, but they are I reckon better designed for younger people as they come up quite low so hold nothing in if that is an issue to you!

My partner loves their boxer shorts so I also buy them for him.

whirlyhead · 05/10/2022 15:32

Didn't address the VPL issue - never thought about whether they are or not as I care not about this. Hadn't noticed them advertising they were either.

Ponks · 05/10/2022 16:17

They are so comfortable, very soft material not shiny stuff. Even though they have a lacy edge it's very flat so I would say less vpl than most of my other pants.
They do go a little bit bobbly after repeated washings but I really like them.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 05/10/2022 16:44

There is a bit of vpl. I bought a four pack, they are ok. After a couple of washes some look tatty. Not sure about why there is-so much love for them really. Expensive for mediocre product.

DillyDilly · 05/10/2022 17:40

I think they are very overpriced and their care guide recommends hand washing or 30 degree machine wash and suggests they don’t need to be tumble dried.

Really too delicate and expensive for an everyday knicker.

ChangePlease · 05/10/2022 19:52

Hm thanks, sounds like a bit of a mixed review then. I want VPL free and non sweaty fabric!!! Seems to be hard to find

I recently bought some after getting fed up with terrible quality M&S knickers, which had been my go-to for years.

They compare favourably to M&S & other supermarket pants. They are soft & comfy and I’ve not noticed any VPL, although I tend to wear thick denim jeans not thin lycra leggings so VPL has never been a huge concern.

Only criticism is I like the fabric to feel more robust & supportive ~to my saggy bum~
They are very flimsy feeling to me

Overall conclusion is nice but not sure worth the cost. Not sure what the alternative is.

SellFridges · 05/10/2022 20:45

I like them and the fabric is great, but they’re definitely too low cut for my c section belly.

minipie · 05/10/2022 21:07

I was looking at these today, but I prefer cotton and I don’t like lace really.

The hunt continues. I’ve been a loyal Gap bikini buyer for years so maybe just those again, even if they only have boring colours.

Pigtailsandall · 05/10/2022 21:14

Noooo I came to this thread with high expectations and I'm sad to see that their knickers don't wash well.. I feel like recently I'm beginning all my pants - they are years old and I really need new ones.

Why is it so hard to find decent cotton underwear?

Branster · 06/10/2022 00:06

Tezenis do no VPL cotton pants. They really are no VPL and they wash well.

ChangePlease · 06/10/2022 07:45

@Branster never heard of that brand, off to Google I go

OP posts:
Branster · 06/10/2022 10:24

They are similar to Intimissimi and Calzedonia. May well be sister companies.

Search for 'seamless cotton'

www.tezenis.com/uk/search/?q=seamless+cotton&lang=en_GB

I buy the briefs for better coverage and there are no VPLs even under white summer dresses.

The brazilian briefs are basically thongs.

Look at British Boxers

whirlyhead · 06/10/2022 10:29

I actually find Sloggi pants are the best so why not try them? Definitely cotton. Some have no VPL (but I didn't think people cared about VPL so much these days!)

whirlyhead · 06/10/2022 10:30

I also agree Stripe and Stare knickers don't wash well and fade quickly so I'm not that keen on buying more.

Gensola · 11/08/2023 13:12

I just bought a lovely neon Orange pair and they faded to a washed out pale pink after one wash on a delicates 30 cycle, totally crap quality.

LivesinLondon2000 · 11/08/2023 13:46

Also find they look tatty after just a few washes - despite following their washing instructions exactly - using a laundry bag etc.
I do find them extremely comfortable and I love the colours so it’s such a shame they don’t last. I even emailed the company about it and they claimed that I couldn’t have been washing them correctly but I definitely was

Parsley1234 · 11/08/2023 13:50

I think they lose colour badly look really awful but the navy ones with trim are good no colour loss the size is generous but expensive for what they are

Sunnydays0101 · 11/08/2023 19:38

I have some of their knickers and VPL is not an issue, certainly not under jeans or trousers and they are very comfortable. However, they are very overpriced imo. Recommended to wash at 30 degrees and not to tumble dry - I wash at 40 degrees and do mostly tumble dry - they are not wearing well, I noticed pulled threads in a pair last wash and the just look tatty after a while. The lighter shades fade very quickly - even with washing similar colours together and not mixing light with dark.

discomoves · 11/08/2023 19:53

Lululemon do the best pants ever. Not cheap but sweat wicking and wash really well.

WinneyWasherWoman · 13/08/2023 07:22

I‘M hating my Stripe & Stare pants. They scrunch up and slide down under leggings

Same issues, also have found them to get holes in them easily. Shame as they are comfy.

Parsley1234 · 13/08/2023 17:35

They are really overhyped they were down the aisle from me at spirit last year I was so excited I bought a few packs the light ones go holey and lose colour very disappointed

CointreauVersial · 13/08/2023 20:12

I got sucked in by the hype and bought a few pairs. On the plus side they are very comfy, and stay put. The fabric is gorgeously soft, and the lace edging reduces VPL (but doesn't eliminate entirely).

One negative, they are definitely on the skimpy side, so size up (or go for the new higher cut they've started doing).

But the biggest negative is that they don't last. After a few weeks of wear they are faded, bobbled rags. That's not good enough, so I did not repurchase.
