Hello , am trying to wear winter dresses.
Being five foot 1 , the likes of toast ,( which i love) are just tooooo long .been on vinted and got three dresses . One of which is on photo.
Black tights make the look a
v v black outfit.
Being pale skinned with red ish hair it feels heavy .
I tried rust opques .. they are fun , but you have to be feeling confient and my dd hates them .
Can anyone suggest what tights with this dress and boots as i really want to solve this mystery ?! Colour and denier advice please. Thanks so much .

I can’t see the photo, but it sounds like a black dress, in which case have you considered grey as a safe option or dark green or burgundy as a more colourful one?

SheWoreYellow · 05/10/2022 12:58

Aha now I see it. How about a camel sort of colour to pick out the flowers?

JayPritchet · 05/10/2022 13:01

Burgundy I think. But also, op is your phone a potato? 😅😅

Imaybesmallbutaimtobeighy · 05/10/2022 13:04

Close up.
What do you mean about my phone ? 😀

What denier please. Do you mean the really thick 80 or 100 denier ones or more sheer ?

Thankyou

How long is the dress on you, if you’re short? If it’s pretty long, you wouldn’t see much of the tights? 70 denier opaque rust colour would look good. Could try dark or lighter blue?

Black 40 denier 😊

tinseng · 05/10/2022 13:17

The lower denier is fashionable at the moment. Think 20. Not warm though.

CheeseMaiden · 05/10/2022 13:17

I would go for black, dark burgundy or dark grey cotton tights, either in a plain knit or with a cable pattern. They are less flat looking than the usual opaques and can add a bit of texture to an outfit without being too eye catching. Been eyeing up some from white stuff but they are a bit pricey!

Imaybesmallbutaimtobeighy · 05/10/2022 13:25

Thanks all . Tights are a mystery to me , and no clue where to find.
The dress is knee lenght on me ( supposed to be above knee) so quite a lot of tight can be observed !

as a fellow shorty who lives in dresses in winter I always go for black, about 60-80 denier, plus boots.

I find if I go with a colour, along with ankle boots it just makes your legs look shorter as it creates "blocks" instead of making you more stream line.

Pearlyqueen21 · 05/10/2022 13:30

I like 80 denier tights from Snag/Popsy/Better etc with my autumn & winter dresses. I would get pairs in each colour in your dress, I particularly like the idea of a blue to pick out the flowers.
80 deniers wear really well IME, but I’ve found 50 denier a bit too quick to get holes in the toes when wearing with boots or chunky shoes.

Poppins2016 · 05/10/2022 13:39

I'd personally go for black opaque (they're warmer and go with everything), then accessorise with colour.

I love the floral pattern, shame it was on vinted as I'd otherwise be asking where it was from so I can get one!

I'd go black. I always think coloured tights are for children

TheSausageKingofChicago · 05/10/2022 14:11

Charcoal grey or oatmeal, in a high denier or cotton if you can find them

I agree with this.

I also have proportionately short legs, so colour just makes my legs look a million times smaller!

I tend to wear the same coloured tights as my footwear, so black boots and black tights. I have brown DM/work type boots and wear navy or dark grey tights with them. But I'd always opt for dark colours and nothing bright.

I get the 100 denier ones from Popsy. I couldn't work out what size I was meant to be in Snag. But a size 2 in Popsy always seem to fit me.

User19876 · 05/10/2022 15:11

Black tights 100%, any denier really. Coloured tights are unflattering on legs and make people look like children’s entertainers.

Imaybesmallbutaimtobeighy · 05/10/2022 15:12

There is another one on vinted just same . In size 10. Oasis.

fuck what's fashionable, if i had to wear tights in winter they are going to be merino or cashmere. Lower denier for special occasions only.

I would opt for grey op! lovely outfit!

grayhairdontcare · 05/10/2022 16:13

Get snag tights or wear your knickers over tights to stop them coming down 😃
