How wonky is it...photos

My hair was medium to long. Wanted it shorter, just slightly below my shoulders.
First hairdresser did it and it wasn't quite short enough, so I asked another to come to my house and just cut off an inch, so it would sit where I want it.

It's horrendous. She cut off around 3 inches. It's not level. Obviously so and I can't wear it down. I could complain but what's the point. All she can do is cut it one length but at the shortest point, it's quite short and it would end up chin level!

Can you see what I mean??

What is the best thing to do? I'm so sad. I was thinking I just need to grin and bear it until it grows a few inches, then get it tidied??

Oh dear. That is quite wonky!

Could you walk around with a permanent head tilt to make it look more even?

thisplaceisweird · 05/10/2022 12:00

Since both hairdressers have now cut it wonky, have you considered it might be that you're tilting your head naturally and when they cut it you are tilting it without realising?

MeAndAutumnGoHandInHand · 05/10/2022 12:15

It looks lovely curled! What did you use to style it like that?

Blueberrydelight · 05/10/2022 12:40

@TabithaTittlemouse it's from Sezane, it's a dress but they do a blouse version.

@tiddlywinks2 my parting is slightly off centre but it still doesn't make sense because if anything, the longer side should be the shorter one (if that makes sense).
She didn't style it. She arrived, put my tea towel around my neck (I got covered in hair), cut away and then left without me looking at it. She promised just an inch off! I don't even see the point in complaining (I'd feel bad) because she can't put it back and I don't want any more cut off.

@OnTheRunWithMannyMontana haha that may be my only option, a permanent head tilt 🤣

@thisplaceisweird I don't know.if the first hairdresser did cut it wonky. It didn't look wonky to me, I only had it cut again as I wanted it a little shorter. It was the 2nd hair dresser who said it was uneven. I've had cuts in the past and never noticed them this uneven.

@MeAndAutumnGoHandInHand I just used babyliss curling tongs.

OP I know this is missing the point but I'm in awe of your curling technique. My hair looks fairly similar to yours, based on your first pic, and I can never get it to do that!

lindyloo57 · 05/10/2022 12:51

This is why I now trim my own hair, after to many disasters at the hairdressers.

SheWoreYellow · 05/10/2022 12:55

If it helps, I think it’s so wonky it looks deliberately asymmetrical.

SantaOnFanta · 05/10/2022 13:08

We had an awful experience with an independent hairdresser. She totally mucked up my son's head, I was too embarrassed to send him to school! With me she swore on her life she trimmed one cm and showed with her fingers, but the evidence on the floor was more like four inches.
I sent her a message about two days later and asked for a refund and she popped it through my door.

She arrived without a cape? Can't believe she didn't show you before she left. So unprofessional, she must have known she did an awful job. How did you find the hairdresser?

Just tell people you are a MNetter and add a tinkly laugh for good measure 😂

I'm also in awe of your curling skills!

That is how it looks to me - I actually think it looks great!

tinseng · 05/10/2022 13:22

I'd go to another hairdresser and get it evened up. You'll lose a couple of inches at least, but unless you're going to be curling your hair permanently, or wearing it up, it's going to be noticeable. You're going to have to bite the bullet and have it made even sometime, so I would just do it now rather than delay.

sevenbyseven · 05/10/2022 13:30

Your hair looks great, and I love that length! I really think a good hairdresser would have no problem evening it up a bit without making it look too short.

WireSkills · 05/10/2022 13:41

I too am in awe of your curling skills (and the colour and shine of your hair), but I am also delighted to see so many others in awe of them too, as I was pretty convinced it was only me that was shite at curling their own hair!

Funny how the hairdresser thought you were wonky to begin with, and now thinks it's straight, when you're the opposite (and the pictures side with you). I'd be worried about what she's doing to other customers!

Blueberrydelight · 05/10/2022 16:37

Thank you to those of you praising my curling skills. It's hilarious, I'm the most incompetent person ever with hair. Honestly, I can chuck it in a ponytail and that's it.

I just used a babyliss curling wand, wrap the hair around and hold it vertical. I'd it's any consolation, I put a load of hairspray in but within an hour most of the curls had fallen out!

I'm not hating it so much now. I don't think I'll message the hairdresser, I don't want to ruin her day! And I don't want her to rectify it. I'll just give it some time to grow a bit and get it cut evenly.

Even tried a hairband but not sure what I think!

@tinseng you're probably right. I may give it a few weeks to get used to it and then at least cut the longer front part, as it looks odd!

Blueberrydelight · 07/10/2022 18:09

I messaged the hairdresser today. I kept looking at my hair and realised it's so wonky I can't even wear it down.
She said she will come and fix it.
I'm not sure though.
(A) in the shortest parts it's several inches above my shoulder. I don't want it that short all over.
(B) I don't trust her

AlwaysFoldingWashing · 07/10/2022 18:16

Curling it has definitely helped!

AlwaysOneMissing · 07/10/2022 18:18

Don’t let her loose on it again!

Blueberrydelight · 07/10/2022 18:39

You're probably right, I shouldn't let her loose on it.
I straightened it and it's awful!
