How do you straighten/get rid of cowslicks in your parting?

Today I had my hair cut... from right down my back..waist length...to just touching my shoulders. I'm happy with it (feels weirdly light tho!) and my long grown out fringe is smooth and swishy.

BUT normally I have a dreadful cowslick where the fringe separates and curls back like the late Queen's hairdo! How to I dry my own hair to avoid that look? I have GHDs but my hair still twists back from the roots!

Mine does this, it's so annoying as I only have it on one side of my hairline, so when I part it one side is really flat and one is too big!
I find drying it with a round brush downwards helps, so gathering all the front of your hair and putting the brush underneath if that makes sense haha.
I also have one of those electric round brushes that dries your hair which is good
