@faustina that doesn’t meet UK consumer law. online sales are distance selling and you can cancel for any reason ( basis is you couldn’t inspect before purchase unlike in a shop).
I got caught out by a retailer refusing to give me a refund and I used the info on dot gov

”Online, mail and phone order sales
Online, mail and telephone order customers have the right to cancel their order for a limited time even if the goods are not faulty. Sales of this kind are known as ‘distance selling’.

You must offer a refund to customers if they’ve told you within 14 days of receiving their goods that they want to cancel. They have another 14 days to return the goods once they’ve told you.

You must refund the customer within 14 days of receiving the goods back. They do not have to provide a reason.”

dudsville · 01/11/2022 21:57

I've never actually purchased from them @faustina how do you find the s,m,l sizing? They give measurements, but i wish they'd give approximate uk sizes too.

faustina · 01/11/2022 21:58

That is useful - thank you @Sooverthemill - I was caught out once by crumpet cashmere who gave no refunds at all - just a credit note, so I I think it was trading standards who told me what to write, and I got my money back in the end too
I do try to return as soon as possible usually, especially if it's a small business in this current climate

faustina · 01/11/2022 22:03

I looked at the measurements and took a gamble @dudsville. I also thought with an elasticated waist they might be a bit more forgiving? I am actually booked to go to their sample sale in London (if I can be arsed) in a couple of days - mainly because it's also a blundstone sample sale, I haven't bought from them before

dudsville · 02/11/2022 10:52

I've always struggled with measurements!

I'm really itching to do some shopping, but I have a full wardrobe and so am sitting on my hands awaiting the next toast sale. I'd really like the denim workwear skirt.

Snowyowl78 · 02/11/2022 12:13

25% off fair isle!

Laska2Meryls · 02/11/2022 12:48

Ooh yes.. Snowy.. thats kind of unusual for them....I wonder if they will do more flash promotions?
Mostly brown stuff though!
I have ordered the scarf for DH to give me for Christmas.. it would be no good me sending him a link, by the time he got around to reading it, the promotion would be over , or it would be oos ( Also of course I have kindred delivery)

it is a new thing isn’t it! Suggests they are not selling well. They are also doing a lot of Toast Live I notice. I hope they don’t do it on dresses as I have just sent two off to be adjusted for length! I don’t think I can justify any fairisle spend even with 25% off. Good news about your Xmas scarf!

faustina · 02/11/2022 13:36

@dudsville - I know, me too. It definitely helped me when I had to measure all my jumpers last month to realise how a particular width/length might look on me. I've never done it with trousers though!

I almost bought the brown/blue chevron yoke but I have too many jumpers now. I've ordered a pair of socks which I was already planning to buy

dudsville · 02/11/2022 15:53

The sale is interesting, i wonder if they'll do this with other things throughout the year. I've not bought anything (yet). I've been looking forward to wearing last year's fair isle scarf, and although i like the grey jumper very much I'm dithering.

faustina · 02/11/2022 16:59

I just wish they'd go back to their start of the season 20% off everything - in a reliable way, so you could count on it

I'm very impressed with YMC delivery btw. Ordered yesterday, paid £3 for delivery, and I just had a message from DHL. to say it's arriving tomorrow. Very efficient!

AmethystMoonShine · 02/11/2022 16:59

Thanks @Snowyowl78 I have ordered the brown/blue chevron jumper (I clearly have less will power than @faustina 😂). I’ve been tempted several times as I love the way the blue appears to pop against the brown. Seems rude not to try with a discount!
Also ordered the fairisle green socks as I hope they’ll be warm and I wear lots of green.
Very interesting new approach with the discount, not sure I can ever recall this before?

Stoic123 · 02/11/2022 18:10

Was very surprised to get email about the offer.

Not sure if I will buy anything but the brown/ blue jumper @AmethystMoonShine has ordered is lovely.

Also bought last year's scarf and looking forward to wearing it as well.

I feel this way in that I can't really justify any more jumpers even with 25%off. I don't wear that many and I have loads. I love the blue fairisle. Trying to justify it but can't. It's still pricey with % off.

mizu · 03/11/2022 07:54

Agree! I really want the blue fairisle but have 4 TOAST jumpers Shock and really don't need another. That colour though........

AFingerofFudge · 03/11/2022 09:29

I have jumped on the bandwagon of ordering the brown jumper with the blue zigzag- I find it quite striking which is not something I thought I would say over something brown!
To ease the guilt I've used the PayPal pay in 3 so it's "only" £38.75 for 3 months. Grin

faustina · 03/11/2022 10:28

There's a kindred gift coming with my socks. Wonder what it is?

Saurus72 · 03/11/2022 11:01

Ooh @faustina i can’t resist a Kindred gift. Off to order now…

Snowyowl78 · 03/11/2022 12:49

Ooh Kindred gift!! My moneys on some Xmas baubles.

I bought the cashmere round jumper in Truffle last week, it’s really nice, but terribly expensive. It’s still sitting in its packaging awaiting a decision. I like the round shape things that Toast do, seems to suit me well. I’m not sure whether to hold on to it until the potential sale at the end of Nov, but looking back it seems around this time they do an archive sale rather than a current season.

TheChattyRat · 03/11/2022 13:48

I was weak and succumbed to the fair isle scarf (or blanket - seems huge from the measurements!)
The jumpers are lovely but most of the colours wouldn't suit me.

Saurus72 · 03/11/2022 13:48

@Snowyowl78 Have you looked at John Lewis cashmere? I really like it and I think it’s pretty good value. I live in it every winter when I’m wfh. Not the cool round shape of Toast but then not the same price either. I just can’t justify high prices for cashmere because no matter what I do I seem to shrink it each year so I have to buy again the following autumn 🤷‍♀️

Snowyowl78 · 03/11/2022 13:54

@Saurus72 ooh I will have a look. I have been indoctrinated by Toast to the point that nothing seems to measure up, haha. I have another round cashmere one that I haven’t washed yet! Too scared!

Laska2Meryls · 03/11/2022 13:55

Ooh yes, I have a Kindred gift .. I am hoping that its Fukushima wrapping cloths like we has previously ( great for patchwork crafting) but it'll probably be a bauble ...

OP posts:
Laska2Meryls · 03/11/2022 13:57

@TheChattyRat It does look qite large, mine is probably destined to live as a snuggly on my sofa , as the colours look like they will echo my lounge colour scheme

faustina · 03/11/2022 14:11

The YMC trousers are so nice I haven't taken them off! Sizing is on a par with toast ( if not bigger) for these trousers anyway. These are the xxs- and they really aren't! They have the most wonderful pockets made of some kind of moleskin or thick brushed cotton
