"Nice dress" for a party

Full disclosure It's for a cruise and normally wear super casual but we are going with friends and it's a big birthday for one of us and would like a "nice party dress".

Have in mind black/gold but something maybe satiney or mild shimmery?

I'm 16 5'6 and slightly peary /hourglassy.

Prefer round/slash neck, midi and not clingy and not strappy.

Or maybe something that I could wear to a 'nice restaurant'.

Thanks 😊

Gosh, I know v little about cruise style, but my impression is that it can be quite glamorous?
Perhaps a little more effort than one would make to a terrestrial nice restaurant?

Personally, I have a black Cos dress that owes me nothing after about 10 years of great service- work, nice dinners out, funerals etc.
Would this work?
Can be dressed up or down depending on shoes, accessories etc?

Oooh yes I like that. Cruise are more casual than they used to be unless on Cunard.

You are quite right I need something between black tie and a 'nice dress'!

I'm usually casual and wear a variety of separates and on smart night just wear the dressier dress!

I like this for the sparkle, maybe a bit too revealing though with the low neckline www.coastfashion.com/premium-embellished-flare-%E2%80%8Bsleeve-mini-dress/BCC02652.html?color=133
