Nice, interesting and decent quality sweatshirts?

I have never owned sweatshirts as I am a knitwear lover and prefer jumpers when it's cold. However, as I find myself running after a toddler these days, I start to contemplate the idea of buying a couple of sweatshirts to wear on days off with DD to be more comfy. There are so many options our there but was keen to hear your tips. I want something that is: comfy and soft but also cute to look at, not too oversized (i.e. not like 90s going to the gym type of look, also not too masculine), that washes well and will last more than a season.
I saw some nice ones in M&S, was quite tempted.
Budget-wise, I don't want to spend more than £30 for one, ideally less :)

I was interested in the same because I bought an M&S one in the spring. Given the pretty hot summer we’ve had it’s hardly been worn so it’s only been in the machine a handful of times. I put it on the other day and I’m really disappointed because it’s faded already. Really disappointing.

Have a look at Passenger clothing - they are fab quality - the sale ones will be in budget
Some are oversize but just check the feedback on each

Some of he Next ones are ok, but they are very into 'brands' this year eg coca cola, polaroid etc. They're also VERY warm, i had one on today but had to take it off as it was too hot.

I’ve had (and still got) some great ones from here, wash and wear brilliantly, really soft and still look new after a few years.

Lands End "Serious Sweats" are superb quality

Most of my sweatershorts would be from Sainsburys, cheap, sometimes have a quirky design, wash well.

Have had nice classy looking sweatshirts from Massimo dutti, in the sale

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 03/10/2022 17:31

I got a few a couple of years ago from Tu Sainsburys. The ones which say things like 'Happy' and have boucle.

I got the Rue des Archives one from H&M. Very soft and nice colour.

I also have various ones by Zara, a local boutique, Friends of Joules and suggest you just shop around and read reviews.

For me a good sweatshirt in spring/summer/autumn has to be light enough that it's not too hot/cold to wear. Softer for when I want the softness factor. And a nice colour. Numph do nice ones too.

I bought some great sweatshirts in Primark late winter/early spring

theemmadilemma · 03/10/2022 17:56

I bought 5 sweatshirts in Primark yesterday.

Very comfortable and cheap, quality seems fine to me. I'm sure they'll wash well. One already has. Made from recycled plastic!

theemmadilemma · 03/10/2022 17:56

£6 a go!
