What’s the most you would spend on a jumper?

I was looking for some new knitwear on Next online as they do lots of different brands. I saw two I liked, one from All Saints at £139 and one from Reiss at £178. I would never pay that for a jumper! Plus they were hand wash which also puts me off as I never hand wash anything these days.

£40-£45 would be about my price range. Does anyone pay that much as the norm? Is the quality much different at that price?

I love clothes and fashion but trying not to spend too much this year for obvious reasons but want to get a few things for the winter which are practical and warm and will update my wardrobe a bit.

Back in the day (over ten year ago) I paid something like £50 for a Monsoon jumper and liked it so much I bought another in the sale. Both are still going strong and I have passed them on to a family member. Recent purchases have been £5 for a cashmere Wyse London jumper in a charity shop and for less than a tenner a Joseph jumper ( must dig it out) also from a charity shop.I do need some more jumpers so I’m keeping my eye out on the charity shops.

£30 if it was really nice, generally don't buy jumpers though as they don't last well for me

Jumpers, like so many things, are a ‘cost per wear’ items. Cheap ones will look awful after a handful of wears. A good quality jumper made mostly of natural fibres, will inevitably cost considerably more than £30, but well cared for, will last for years. So if someone bought a single jumper for £90 (or less in a sale), rather than 3 £30 jumpers, they would still have a nice jumper left after several years when the 3 £30 ones are long gone.

I do realise though that money is tight and many people can’t afford to take that approach.
