So, I have to go to the above mentioned event at the end of the month. My H plays golf, I know the other couples but only just and the other wags all know each other really well so any social occasion is a bit fraught because I'm not very outgoing. Against that background I need to decide what to wear! The other wags (same age as me mostly, 50s and 60s) always seem very glam so I imagine they will be dolled up. I prefer wearing trousers and can scrub up OK but is this an occasion that requires a dress? My legs are really chunky even though I'm a size 12 (5'6) so I try and avoid dresses and I have no idea what sort of dress would even be right!

I'm spending way too much time stressing about it. I have decent black court shoes I can just about walk in. Heeellllpppp please!

Wear trousers, wear shoes that are comfortable. You'll feel much better. You can glam up with other elements - hair/make-up/jewellery/nails. Whatever is your thing.

What about a longer midi dress ( more calf) - maybe a wrap dress.

Thanks! I have a couple of midi dresses which I can wear if I can't get away with trousers. I'd just rather not!
