Midi dresses - what coat/jacket?

I’ve got some long sleeved midi dresses for Autumn/Winter but struggling with what coat/jacket to wear. My coats are all slightly shorter than the dresses so there are a couple of inches of dress visible at the back but not sure jackets work either. What do
you think? I end up throwing on an old raincoat that looks awful. Any inspiration from you lovely stylish ladies out there?

I always think that slightly cropped leather/biker jackets look nice with midi dresses but not the most warm!

Also cropped denim jackets and oversized chunky cardis

Either a shorter jacket, or a longer coat, or it just looks frumpy I think as proportions look wrong.

It needs to either stop at the waist or cropped or be as long/longer than the dress
The only mid length I found that looked OK was a coatigan and only a particular style.

maybe shearling is the winter version?

agree something waist length or same length as dress works best

I actually think an oversized blazer type coat can work quite well and they’re quite “in” at the moment.
