Magnetic eyelashes

Can anyone recommend a good set?
I want to give it a go but the eyeliner part puts me off slightly. I have hooded eyes and I'm worried it will just look really messy. However, I am tired of my mascara smudging by mid afternoon!
Any suggestions welcome!

They're completely rubbish. They don't stay on and are extremely annoying to apply. Far more difficult than normal false lashes. The edge of the lashes is also thicker to accommodate the magnets

WeAreTheHeroes · 30/09/2022 07:29

And don't bother with the magnetic ones where two rows of lashes stick to each other with your own lashes sandwiched in the middle - you need at least one pair of extra hands to make these work.

Yes I tried those too. I reckon three pairs of hands and you might manage it.

I tried lolas lashes after reading lots of good reviews. Dreadful.... the eyeliner was SO thick. (And I've been applying liquid line above lashes since I was a teen (41 now) so I'm not new to it. It just seemed to go all over my natural lashes, even with wiping the applicator, and stick them together, then printed over my lids, took an age to dry as well. Was a mess. I've tried a few times and given up (they weren't cheap either). Lashes seemed quite lovely just the magnetic liner I found awful. Maybe it's just me though, the reviews I saw and videos made them look so easy!

I don't have advice on false eyelashes but I use waterproof mascara to avoid the smudged look you describe

dampgreg · 30/09/2022 08:02

Yeah don't bother. They snap shut half way down your eyelashes unless you have more arms than an octopus.

TheMoops · 30/09/2022 08:05

Going against the grain here but I love them. I bought a set off Amazon and they're great.
They last all day/night no problem.
The key is making sure the eyeliner dries before you attach the lashes and obviously the magnets need to be touching the eyeliner.

How about revitalash? It grows your own eyelashes - takes a few months to get the effect, but it's been huge for me.

CMOTDibbler · 30/09/2022 08:14

I am completely useless with liner and lashes, but use the Lolas magnetic lashes and they are brilliant. You do have to wait a long time for the liner to dry, and I have to sit down with my eyes closed during that time (I mean its like 3 minutes, not a huge amount) as my eyes are hooded. But once on they stay all day, and the liner doesn't shift

Belatedeyebrows · 30/09/2022 08:14

Ahh, OK, perhaps more trouble than it's worth!
Any suggestions for alternatives?
Thank you for the waterproof mascara tip. I've tried it but find it a nightmare to get off!

I hVe hooded eyes and tried lolas lashes. As others hVe said, the trick is to wait until the liner is completely dry. It is thick, I tried several times before I got better at applying, but after that they were great.

What you need @Belatedeyebrows is tubing mascara, not waterproof mascara.
It doesn't smudge or come off until you wash it off with warm water.
Clinique, Estée Lauder, Boots and MAC all do versions.

Gloriosity · 30/09/2022 08:57

I found glue lashes much easier than magnetic ones, plus I’m not a thick black eyeliner kinda gal which the magnetic ones need to stay put.

BUT, better than both- Lash serum and get your lashes lifted and tinted- absolute game changer. I actually do my own at home cos I’m skint 😁

Yup, tubing mascara is the game changer. I buy the hourglass one, I’m sure the others are good too but now I’ve found one I dare not change it

Animallover87 · 30/09/2022 18:27

I have the merit clean lash tubing mascara and it's a game changer. Never found one that doesn't end up all over my face.

CharlotteSt · 14/10/2022 19:11

I've bought these on the recommendation of a friend. I've never been able to manage glue lashes (or liquid eyeliner) but the eyeliner goes on easily and I'm really pleased with them.

They're awful! you're better off learning how to stick on strip lashes...or go and get lash extensions😍

MrsGamgee · 16/10/2022 09:13

No experience with magnetic lashes so can't help on that OP, but have you tried tubing mascara?

I spent years with panda eyes because every single mascara would smudge on me (even waterproof) and then by some miracle I discovered tubing mascara. It does not budge. I use No7 Stay Perfect which is the cheapest one I've found in Boots/Superdrug. Might be worth a shot!

Alarm59 · 17/10/2022 22:56

I tried Lola’s lashes, but by the time I’ve cleaned the magnets off I just can’t be arsed. I also had an awful experience where the magnetic eyeliner flaked off and went in under my eye - it was like glass, it was agony and I couldn’t function, took so long to get it out . I have a friend who took a horrible allergic reaction to it too.

I did eventually learn how to glue on strip lashes with practice and I’ve never looked back

CheeseWineBainne · 17/10/2022 23:02

I also recommend tubing mascara. I used to use the boots one but then switched to clinique and I much prefer it.
