What winter coats are fashionable this season?

Last year it was the huge neck to ankle duvet coat which in my town seemed to be hugely popular. It wasn't for me as I cycle to work and for leisure and it would have been too hot and cumbersome, although it did look toasty for winter days.

I'm thinking about getting a new winter coat and whilst I'm fairly stylish, it's not a fashionable stylish, more 'quirky' and timeless.

I'd still like to get something that's sort of on trend but also won't date to horribly. I don't plan on buying another one for a few years if I can help it.

So given that, any tips for someone who does feel the cold, needs something practical, doesn't want to look like a fashion victim but also wants to be stylish! Is that too big of an ask?

I have a Didrikson Erica but it's quite boring and doesn't feel especially glam, I'm hoping for something in a brighter colour that does what it's supposed to do I.e. also keeping me warm and dry.

OP I'm following now because what you're referring to (including being breathable) is like the holy grail of cycling coats! I'm on my bike a lot and every year go through this cycle (see what I did there 😉) usually with no good result.

The best thing I've found is one of these coats worn with wellies (when it rains). happyrainydays.com/product-categorie/lange-regenjassen/page/2/

In the winter I wear a long woollen cardi under it as mine isn't the winter version (there's a padded version I think). The beauty of it is that there's a torso zip high enough up that it's comfortable cycling with only that, but the bottom half has a large flap that can be poppered back on the inside or opened and zipped up from the bottom to meet the other zip. This means, drum roll: no more waterproof trousers!! I got it a few years ago from the Dutch site so not sure where to get it now in the UK.

btw I feel the cold (and damp) and the combo with the wool cardi works well when it's cold and I'm cycling. Obvs with warm gloves and socks too. If I don't mind messing up my hair and looking a bit of a tear I also wear one of those wooden headbands. That's actually good under the hood when it's raining because it can keep top of forehead warm but let top of head cool off a bit if I'm going faster.

However..

I'm not sure anybody is jealous of how stylish I look. 😉 I think some people would manage to make it look better than I do tbh.
