Waxing your own eyebrows

DreamingOfSoftWhiteSand · 28/09/2022 13:55

I have been thinking of ditching the salon and waxing my eyebrows myself. I tried with those ready-made strips for face areas but they won't give me the shape I want because they are straight. So I'm thinking of using a tub of wax, the type you spread with a small wooden spatula. I used to use that type on my legs.

Does anyone use that? At home? How do you judge the temperature of the wax? How do you ensure you don't use too much, or too little, wax? Any tips? Thanks.

I'd be scared I'd rip my eyebrows off 🤣

I’ve been waxing mine since lockdown - dead east. I’ll see if I can dive what I used

It was called smooth appeal. You can get a microwave version. Then I bought some wooden sticks off Amazon.

super easy, lots of fun.

You are brave….

I do my own with the pick off wax not the strips. I bought a wee pot and some beads off Amazon for about £20.

I use the waxing face strips and cut them into little small strips. I just do a little bit at a time so I can't make a big mistake. So like maybe 5 little rips on each eye to have more control. Not sure if I'm making sense!

I use stripless wax just like they do at the salon. Got it on Amazon, melt it in a little wax melt thing, five minute job. You learn pretty fast 😂

DreamingOfSoftWhiteSand · 29/09/2022 15:35

Right. I will buy some of the potted wax. Fingers crossed. Thanks for all the replies!

Why cant you just pluck to get the right shape. Surely that is far more control than possibly spreading wax a bit far, or getting extra hairs caught and ripped out 😳

DreamingOfSoftWhiteSand · 14/10/2022 13:50

Because waxing takes ages and I actually find that plucking doesn't give as neat a finish as waxing does.

Gosh, you lot are so brave. I can't even get my moustache right!!

I do mine. Comb the brows upwards and outwards first so you don’t catch unintended hairs by accident. Use a cotton bud to apply the wax. Thin layer. As long as you only get wax on the hairs you want to remove, it is fine. Way better than plucking.

The shop bought eyebrow wax strips I have have curves. Will just have been from Boots or a supermarket.

Yes I second this advice.
