‘Getting eyebrows done’ at salon?

I really want to go and get my eyebrows sorted out professionally but not entirely sure what this actually means 😳😂

What sort of things can you get done?

Either an eyebrow wax or eyebrow thread. You can get these done in my local Superdrug for £7.

KJPrice · 28/09/2022 11:37

So many different things. Depends on if you want definition added? I get mine tinted and threaded. I personally would avoid places like Superdrug etc and find yourself a decent salon to go to. It’s around £15/£20 for a wax/thread and tint. Worth every penny!

You can have temporary things done like threading and tinting

you can have semi permanent things like microblading or powder brows

then there's lamination...

Basically brows is a boom industry and they're always thinking up new things to do to them.

(google some of the above terms though and you should get an idea of what each involves)

I get mine threaded - my skin doesn’t like being waxed! It’s a bit painful but the results have been great for me - I have dark hair and PCOS so it grows rampantly!

I pay £18 every 3/4 weeks and get my eyebrows, top lip and jaw line done by a lady that has her own little salon on the high street.

Threaded or waxed- those who thread will tell you it gives you a superior shape- personally I don't think it does on me and stings more. Also tinted- can also go with laminating- gives them an even better shape but is bloody expensive. Personally go a wax and tint and love it.

I get eyebrows threaded & tinted and top lip waxed for £20. It's worth every penny.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 28/09/2022 11:52

A friend of mine has her top lip threaded. I wince just thinking about it!

pinok · 28/09/2022 12:31

So at the minute I just pluck at home to get rid of the stray hairs but always use an eyebrow pencil/eyebrow kit as I don’t look right without colouring them in! Would something like a tint be good? Is that like a little bit of hair dye?

I know these questions are bit stupid!

I get mine mapped & henna brows

DobbyTheHouseElk · 28/09/2022 12:36

Tinting is like hair dye. It dyes the teeny hairs darker. It also can give the impression of fuller brows if you want that. Your beauty therapist can see if some of the fine fair hairs can be tinted to add shape to your brows. It’s really amazing when people think they have no brows and a tint reveals brows!

make sure you are given a patch test of tint 24/48 hrs before you have tint for the first time, this checks for potential allergies or reactions.

What kind of look do you want? I avoid salons that do hd brows, lamination etc because despite what I have asked for in the past they've given me overly 'done ' brows, when what I want really is a tidy of my natural shape. Caveat I am in Essex and this may play a part as I see a lot of very large, very sculpted, very dark brows which is the trend. If you want this type probably best at a mainstream beauty Salon.
We have an area locally that has a prominent Asian community and salons there offer threading to a natural shape it costs me £7 but I usually give them ten.
I have sensitive skin and don't find it too bad, I've had my skin torn and burnt with wax in the past!

DennySaid · 28/09/2022 13:25

Depends what you want. My friend got hers microbladed and they look great. Though another friend had it done and the pigment has moved north of her actual eyebrows now - not sure how common that is. I get mine threaded because I have dark hair and plenty to work with...

ChickinMarango · 28/09/2022 13:53

Eyebrow lamination and lash tint and lift. Works wonders :)

I actually tint my own by using 'men's beard dye'...easy to do. There are lots of youtube videos on this. And then get them waxed by a technician. Threading is good too. A bit more painful but I think the results can be better if you find a really good threading lady.
