Culotte style jeans on size 14

Looking at some culotte style jeans online earlier that i quite like but wondering if theyre unflattering on my size 12/14 figure
They're dark grey, wide-ish until ankle. Would wear with chunky black boots & cashmere knit or similar when it gets colder.
Any advice on this style? Better suited for slim figures or flattering for larger sizes? I'm average height 5ft5

Think they’d look more stylish with a slightly pointed, heeled boot, in, say, purple or dark green suede or patent. I know dark denim with chunky black boots is ‘normal’ - but it can look heavy and unimaginative, which is possibly not what you want!

These are one of those items for me that are a triumph of hope over experience every time I try some on. I'm a similar height small size 14 standard hourglass shape and I've never been able to get away with wide trousers that don't go all the way down to my feet, for some reason cropped ones just seem to make my thighs look disproportionately large and I think my ankles are pretty slim. I've tried on various types and denim ones especially seem unforgiving because they're just wide all the way down but make me look short and dumpy.

It might be different for you but I thought I'd share my experience.

I've got some - am shorter than you and much nearer a 14 than a 12 these days. They are absolutely not my most flattering pair of jeans, but they do work with a heeled boots (or go for a low block heel or a higher but not too pointy heel). I just have to be careful what I wear on top - a fitted t-shirt and longer cardigan seems to work better on me than a jumper for some reason.

I'm a tallish 14/16 and I love my dark denim culottes. I got them about 5 years ago from Sainsbury's. The fit, the flare, tye length, where they sit on my hips just work.

I wear them with a t shirt and birkies on the summer, tights, boots and a chunky jumper in the winter.
