Nice breastfeeding tops?

ShirleyPhallus · 26/09/2022 08:20

I’m on the lookout for some tops for autumn, not ready to do the vest / jumper pull one up / one down trick yet as there are still some warm days

id like some nice tops that I can wear with jeans with hidden BF panels I think, but everything seems to be really hideous jersey type wrap tops rather than actual nice things which happen to be BF friendly

can anyone recommend anywhere with nice stuff?

Check out the FB group "Can I breastfeed in it"
Loads of good finds

Hmmm, I left that group because there was so much unstylish stuff being posted (lots of unflattering smock dresses and basic vests). Maybe I should give it another go

Get a Muslim and use that to cover yourself if it makes you comfortable and that way you can wear whatever whenever

H&M has a nursing section that I liked because they were cut to be nursing specific, not maternity and nursing (I.e. not just shapeless smocks). Sainsbury’s Tu also has a nursing collection, although mostly those are just “things with buttons”. However, most “nursing clothes” on the market are of the stretchy wrap/flap or buttoned shirt variety. Not a lot of choice!

Sorry but this typo did made me laugh…

MandaLynn · 26/09/2022 11:27

@ShirleyPhallus there's definitely some less-than-stylish posts, but a few people have some good options

Typo aside but yeah this just isn’t true at all!

@sleepwhenidie
Oh my word I'm such a doughnut 🤦🏽‍♀️

@ShirleyPhallus
Why isn't it 😕? For me it is and I breastfeed everywhere I tie a MUSLIN cloth around my neck like a bib and either pull my top or dress down or pull my top/ jumper up, I even do it while walking

Guineapiggiesmalls · 26/09/2022 15:13

I quite like Tilbea online. Lyla & Leche do some great zipped dresses. Seraphine have a few tops too, but often have that annoying excess material across the stomach.

I like tops like this - quite high necked and fitted. You’d have to undo literally all the buttons and then pull the front up to get access, no size of muslin would be able to cover up properly and it would be really fiddly!

Likewise for round neck dresses with the zip at the back, you can’t get access unless you unzip the whole thing and then either a whole arm out or lift the entire skirt part up!

I’ve never heard of lyla and leche but this is exactly the kind of thing I’m after thank you! Those dresses don’t obviously look like BF dresses

They’re great dresses - I have two, the pale green and the black. I was annoyed to have missed the leopard print, so messaged the woman who owns the company and she mentioned that it would be back in October 👀 they also occasionally appear on Vinted, if you use it

pinacollama · 27/09/2022 19:17

I love my Lyla and Leche dresses. Bump and Milk have some nice options but are more expensive - I rent them from For the Creators when I have a special occasion. And so glad the leopard L&L dress coming back- I wore mine to death and the pressure from the baby carrier made it rip. Need to repurchase!!

MrsSamR · 27/09/2022 19:31

Seraphine or Isabella Oliver

YorkshireTeaCup · 27/09/2022 20:08

I got some vests and tshirts from The B Shirt. Then wore cardis / button down shirts etc over the top as the weather needed.

ShirleyPhallus · 28/09/2022 03:22

So many of these are just basic T-shirts and vests, I want something more exciting

Maybe I should start my own business

Lyla and leche
stylish mum
Juno jacks

ShirleyPhallus · 28/09/2022 03:48

Stylish mum and Juno jacks also just same jersey T-shirts / vests / sweatshirts / same boring smocky dresses

Literally no stylish options here. Are we all meant to just wear boring jersey T-shirts and frumpy jersey dresses to BF in

My pet peeve is BF clothes that are still maternity shaped. I think the best thing to do is wear regular clothes that happen to be suitable for breastfeeding. It is definitely annoying.

Skiingwithgin · 28/09/2022 06:10

I have the same issues OP! I hate the jersey dresses/obvious panels for lifting on dresses and tops.

i have a few nice things from seraphine, have to be selective to avoid the frump.
but mainly I buy blouses/shirts/shirt dresses that aren’t maternity that just have good access!

i also don’t get the amount of dungarees branded for maternity or nursing! Couldn’t imagine anything more cumbersome!
