Buckingham Palace outfit help please

Hi, I'm off to Buckingham Palace as a guest to an investiture ceremony next month. The dress code reads "ladies should wear day dress (preferably with a hat) or a smart trouser suit."

I'm a size 16, chesty, with a passable waist and a wobbly tum.
Budget of around £200.

I am at a loss so any pointers would be very appreciated!

i don’t have any advice on actual outfits but one word of warning - when I went to an investiture it was freezing! And you are sitting there a long time. I’m pretty warm blooded but was honestly so cold I couldn’t concentrate on the ceremony. Particularly legs. So whatever outfit take something warm would be my tip!

I'd probably search 'mother of the bride's and go from there.

Either that or crown and ermine cloak and say you have heard there's a position vacant.
