Same, I can't believe grown women actually give a toss. Wear whats comfortable.
To me there's a huge difference between "is this dress nice/ suitable for/ what do I wear to/what's the best for my shape?" discussions and the " is x dated" type- particularly when X is such a basic staple as knee length boots.
I cannot remember there ever being a winter when shops were not full of knee length boots - same applies to ballet flats and kitten heeled/ low heeled courts. All of these are either "so dated" or "back in " all without ever going away or ever not being worn.
On this thread there have been confident statements that ankle boots and dresses are both in and dated- same with knee boots (despite Harper's Bazaar saying they are in)
For me items of clothing which I find ugly or unflattering (I'm looking at you clompy block heels, platform soles, puffa jackets jump suits and jeans) are never going to stop looking ugly or unflattering just because they are "in".
Neat little 1950s dresses, hippy dippy Cabbages and Roses/ Laura Ashley style dresses, neat tailored jackets ( but never blazers), laced-up Lancashire mill lass ankle boots, ballet flats, Audrey Hepburn low stilletos, Victorian riding coats, Harris tweed and proper felt hats are never going to stop being exactly what I want to wear just because someone has decreed they are "dated"
