I really need new specs prescription has changed.
I have very poor eyesight and also need varifocals.
Last time I got new glasses came to 2k not because of the frames but because of the lens.
Any advice for a good reasonable place to go please.
I'd also like them to be nice as well

Cubitts and Ace & Tate are both stylish and not overly expensive. Not sure how much their varifocal lenses cost though. I recently got some Specsavers glasses and I'm pleasantly surprised.

I went to Vision Express at my local Tesco.
They usually have good offers on with discounts for blue light card etc.
I wear varifocals with a prism. I bought glasses & prescription sunglasses for less than £500 I think 3 months ago.

With varifocals I always buy the best lenses available as you get used to them easily.

Do Cubitts do complicated prescriptions? I recommended them to a friend but her prescription wasn't suitable. This is a couple of years ago so they may be able to offer the service.

My husband goes to Boots as they're the only company locally who can deal with his complicated prescription.

Have a look at M&S, they seem to have a lovely range of glasses and seem to have discount codes about at the moment - maybe it's a new service?

I have a high prescription short sighted and need high index (thin) lenses otherwise they are very very thick, but have found ASDA very good value for glasses, inc varifocals.

Not impressed with either Boots or Specsavers and my local independent optician was crazy money.

Of course opticians in any chain can be good in one place and awful in another as I have found out.

The other thing to consider is buying frames from T K Maxx and get a local optician or an online place to fit lenses.
@Mercurial123 I'd assumed Cubitts do complex prescriptions but I could be wrong. Worth checking.

yes the last ones I got were from john lewis must be a franchise in there but although i'm a huge fan of john lewis generally the glasses were extremely expensive and a small screw came out of the frame scraping my face and they would not take responsibility! luckily i had a spare pair.
As you say think it depends on the store.

You are right, they now do more complex prescriptions in store but not online
