Sore face from dry skin

I was experiencing dry skin and flakes on my face all summer. Just within the past week, my face has become sore. It feels tight and dry. It doesn't matter what I use to help. Currently I am using baseline after a wash. Then after the baseline I wipe that away and use a serum. I have a 40 spf face cream.

I think I am more than likely peri menopause now too, if that will help make a difference.

What do you think I can use on my face to help with the dryness and the pain. I think the pain is from the dryness. It feels very tight no matter what I use.

Thank you so much for all of your lovely, kind and helpful replies. I made an order to an online pharmacy. I bought a cream cleanser, whatever that was on offer - LOL

I bought a cerave urea ointment thats lovely. I use that at night time. I am also thinking it will make a great make up primer. We'll see. I also bought an aveeno oat calm moisturer and I use that in the morning and my face is looking much, much, much better. Even without makeup, it's looks glowy and it's looking great already. I'm very happy.

I have an event coming up in a few weeks and to be honest I was dreading it because my face looked awful even with make up. It was so dry. Hopefully this will help.

I'm so glad to see this. I was just coming on to say that Vaseline will be a bad choice as it acts like a b barrier and to recommend that you swap to a cream or balm cleanser. Sounds like you are well on track.

I sometimes get slightly sore skin from dryness and I love the Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face primer. I put it on after my moisturiser and it just makes it feel better (but I also have a full, heavily moisterising regime already in place).

So glad you’ve seen an improvement! I got a bit giddy and bought a beauty box online, started to use a new serum and eye cream and have burned my skin. So back to the trusty Aveeno.
