Anyone ditched their acrylic nail extensions?

Anyone stopped going for these?
Or do you now have gels?

Last time I had gel nails they only lasted me a week! 😟

I'm using shellac type polish at home. It seems to strengthen them and help them grow, so you don't need extensions. I touch up every two weeks.

Do you cute it with a lamp?

Yes, I loved my acrylics but I have shorter painted nails now. Good top coat lasts me 10 days.

Same for me with the shellac at home. Bought the polishes & uv light and saves time, money & healthier nails! Xx

Ditched mine during the first lockdown when the nail salons were closed.

Purchased an LED lamp from Amazon and all the bits to go with it to enable me to do my own gels at home.

Will never go back to acrylic now. Not only have I saved myself lots of money, but I've saved time having to go and get them done and find it relaxing doing them myself.

Like pp I do them every couple of weeks and touch up the odd nail in between if/when needed.

I'm really happy with the length my nails are too with the gels, as it strengthens my natural nail and they don't break as easily.

Those who use shellac or gel polish at home how do you remove it without damaging your nails? I'm tempted to start diy'ing my mails but this part worries me.

I agree, I get salon shellac but it lasts well if you care and file it nicely and is a lot kinder on my nails!! Defo recommend

I have BIAB under gel polish on my own nails. Regrowth aside, they can last as long as 5 or 6 weeks!

I am also interested in how people are removing it as I find I destroy my nails when I remove shellac at home!

Just acetone soak then condition, fine for me - I do have lots of vitamins and don't redo them too often, I take a break between

I find the odd nail pops off on its own. For the others, I just buff the regrowth area and touch up.

I use a neutral colour and don't ring the changes. You can leave them natural with a clear base and coat.

If I want a more dramatic colour, I use ordinary nail polish on top. That comes off with ordinary acetone free nail polish remover, leaving the neutral nail beneath.
