Fancy something classy and expensive looking, good detail and fabric.

Happy for it to be a resale via Vinted or otherwise.

I'm a short, size 8-10. Prefer midi length.

Thank you!

It really depends on what your interpretation of glamour is OP.

https://www.johnlewis.com/ro-zo-olivia-satin-floral-print-midi-dress-green-pink/p109333756?s_share=jlappdroid has lovely colours and would look great with a pink or green coat.

Thinking about it you might be better buying a nice coat if it is a church christening as churches are often freezing 🥶

Mint Velvet have some lovely dresses in at the moment which I’d wear with a wool wrap coat!

Trouser suit in a autumn colour. Or any plainer geometric dress. Blazer over the top. Cost of its cold. Dark greens and tweedy heather colours are great for autumn this year.

Oh, I can't get your link to work @Sickoffamilydrama - I would love to see what you have in mind.

I hadn't even thought about a coat...so good idea.

It was this one I just thought the colours are pretty not sure if it's glam enough 🤔

Never seen glam at a christening. It’s a church service and baptism. Smart day clothes work best.

I've been to christenings where there are a fair few women dressed like it's a wedding or night out. I went to one with a woman who was wearing sky high heels she could barely walk in, a very short dress, fur coat and a fascinator! And to be fair to OP, she said "classy and expensive looking", not "glam".

I like the brand hope and ivy for things like christenings, have a look on vinted and see if it's your style OP. This one is on there atm:

To be fair to me @TizerorFizz - I didn't use the word glam.
Thanks for defending me @Popc0rn!

I love the shape and colours of that dress @Sickoffamilydrama.

My fault OP I'm sure I read glamorous in your post....off to get my eyes tested 👓👓👓

A church christening is usually quite low key in terms of dress. I’m a regular church goer and it’s quite a shock when a christening party arrives for a family service all dressed like a day at the races all tits and heels, and we are all in our frumpy jumpers and jeans! I think people should consider that it is a happy but serious sacred vow to introduce a child to its church family so smart but casual I would’ve said.

@UWhatNow
Yes, a day at the races is now a partywear day too. However just fairly ordinary wearable clothes for a baptism work best. There’s plenty to choose from.,

This is style & beauty the OP is allowed to ask what to wear to any event.

It is perfectly acceptable to dress "classy" to church in fact in my church going family and their friends it would be considered very disrespectful to wear jeans to church.

Says more about your brand of Christianity if you are shocked but heels or breasts.

@Sickoffamilydrama
Depends what you mean by classy. Some people’s idea of class is crass! Glam is for a night out. Fair enough. Classy is what The Princess of Wales looks like. Would she wear slinky glam to a christening? I doubt it.

Style is not just about being glam . It’s about being appropriate. I don’t think jeans are suitable and of course the op can ask what to wear. However it’s judging the tone of the event and it’s not a glam party nor, in my view, jeans and a t shirt! A modern dress or maybe a colourful trouser suit are ideal. You cannot go wrong with Massimo Dutti or a geometric dress.

The OP said she would like "something classy and expensive looking, good detail and fabric" and prefers midi length.

That brief is entirely appropriate for a Christening, especially a family one where there will be photos.

If you're not going to offer any suggestions of what the OP has asked for, then there's not much point in commenting on this thread.

I think a very nice dress , but day dress , would be respectful for the baptism . Not Ascot / Cheltenham wear 😊 A lovely coat over a dress I think would be perfect.

Speeds the budget on a good coat that you’ll get plenty of wear from, and buy a smart dress from Zara to go with it - they have a wide choice at the moment.

@Popc0rn I offered suggestions on 21st Sept. Good fabrics can be all sorts. Cut and style to suit your body are important snd trouser suits are really trendy at the moment and will certainly last. Midi dresses are easy to find too.

However, having lookedon line, it will be far too long for me. Model is 5ft 10!

Which brands can I look at that are a modern style but with some quality?

Bit of a long shot OP but the next sale is on and I've had a few good bits from there Mix range that it's collaborations with designers (you have to avoid the polyester). I filter for the price from High to Low so that the more high end dresses show first.
