2 huge lines between brows - help

Magpiesalute · 20/09/2022 15:27

I am mid forties and have pretty good skin with few wrinkles apart from huge ‘elevens’ the two lines between my eyebrows. I’m not keen on the idea of injectables, but is there anything else that would work to fill or soften these? I’ve tried Clarins instant smooth to no avail. Any ideas? I think they are really ageing me.

Botox. If not you can get sticky things you use overnight and they are a temporary fix. Frownees and similar products.

hewouldwouldnthe · 20/09/2022 21:20

Botox on,6 last 3-4 months in normal circumstances. Did for me.

Pinkcadillac · 20/09/2022 21:21

Dr Rita Rakus in Knightsbridge is very good. I don’t have experience with Botox, just fillers, but she’s a specialist and has a good reputation.

whiteonesugar · 20/09/2022 21:25

@Magpiesalute thank you! That’s very kind. You’ve made my day x

Luckymummytoone · 20/09/2022 21:25

Think I’ll try frownies too!! 🤞🏼 Xx

userxx · 20/09/2022 21:28

@whiteonesugar I pay the same, it's starting to get a bit too expensive for me now but I don't want to give it up!!

Eddieisadick · 20/09/2022 21:38

Depends where you live. In London I pay £200 for one area and £250 for two. Usually you would do two with lines like that. First time it wore off after a few months but now I go probably twice a year. Honestly changed my life.

Eddieisadick · 20/09/2022 21:39

And you don’t need some super expensive Harley St doctor. Lots of local dentists do it at a fraction of the price. Or proper salons would be fine. There’s not much that can go wrong and even if the worst happened it’s temporary

Ndd135632 · 20/09/2022 21:45

Oh Botox is the only way. Bite the bullet.

Eddieisadick · 20/09/2022 21:45

i’m worried it might go wrong and freeze my face - pretty impossible unless they start randomly jabbing all over your face!!

i’m worried I’ll need more and more and eventually look weird/not myself anymore doesn’t work like that. You don’t need more. You’re just thinking of the 90s Botox style where people couldn’t move their faces. No-one has it done like that anymore

I tell my daughter to love herself as she is so I wouldn’t be practicing what I preach . do you never paint your nails, wear nice clothes, cut your hair? Loving yourself doesn’t mean not doing something that would make you feel more confident. The more important message is do what you want but do it for you not for anyone else

MavisMonkey · 20/09/2022 21:50

OP I'm going to recommend a non-Botox option!!!

I tried botox once and didn't like it - I was so worried about the frozen face and was just not comfortable with the idea in general so I tried facial yoga.

It's not as good and it takes commitment - 3-4 weeks to see results and it does reverse if you don't keep up with it but it does minimise the 11 lines. Check out Face Yoga Method or Face Yoga Expert on YouTube for tutorials.

The thing with deep 11 lines is that you look grumpy and haggard no matter what you do. I have loads of laughter lines around the eyes but they don’t really bother me. The 11s I hate and a touch of subtle Botox just transforms my whole face. I find psychologically it makes me frown less, partly as I can’t, and that helps with things not getting any worse too.

I’m a bit obsessed with 11s on people. Some people will never get them due to their face structure, so fair play they aren’t going to be contemplating Botox.

Eddieisadick · 21/09/2022 00:40

And did you know it’s been scientifically proven that if you cant frown as much you are a happier person.

Eddieisadick · 21/09/2022 00:42

@MavisMonkey don’t mean to be rude but I can’t see much difference bar the photo angle

Banana2079 · 21/09/2022 00:50

Botox won’t fix that if it’s visible even when you are not frowning- the only thing that will fill in those lines is an injectible filler such as Juvederm ect
I know because my mum and my friend has the exact same lines
You can try retinal or Argeline from “the ordinary “ skin care brand which can slightly soften the lines

RiverSkater · 21/09/2022 01:21

OMG @whiteonesugar your eyes are mesmerising!!

It will, because it's the muscle contracting under the skin, even at rest.

Filler is not an option, no responsible practitioner will inject filler over the eyes because of the (small) risk of migration. If anyone suggests that, walk away.

Magpiesalute · 21/09/2022 07:42

Thanks everyone. Lots to think about.

I'd just add to the chorus of 'have Botox'
I have twice a year and my husband has NO idea. He would be shocked to know I had it done.
I'm not saying lie to your daughter BUT saying more likely that she won't even notice.

Artinsurance · 21/09/2022 13:42

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 20/09/2022 18:43

Try using the Argereline serum from the ordinary
it won’t be like Botox but with regular use will hopefully soften the lines

I’ve had Botox in the past and it was a game changer but haven’t had it done for a few years because of the expense. However, I’ve used the Ordinary Argireline alongside Dermatica Tretinoin for the last 4 months and I’ve seen (and can feel) a remarkable softening in my frown line.

whiteonesugar · 21/09/2022 14:53

@RiverSkater blushes thanks you're very kind!

whiteonesugar · 21/09/2022 14:54

@userxx it's a lot but totally worth it in my eyes. I am trying to stretch out the months between top ups now - just put a little away each month then i'm right back in that chair haha

TheNoodlesIncident · 21/09/2022 20:48

It does make a massive difference to your feeling of well-being, knowing you're frowning even when you're not peeved is not nice. It's more relaxing knowing it's gone so you're less likely to get the lines back as strongly when it wears off.

I've had many years of constant anxiety which really showed on my face, then of course I got stressed about how anxious and stressed I looked. I feel tons better now I know I don't look as bad plus it's a relief not to look pissed off in photos too!

Botox is just another part of self-care, like hair dye, wearing perfume or putting on make up because you like how it looks. If it makes you feel better about yourself, why not?

Thanks everyone. Lots to think about.

What did you decide to do @Magpiesalute and how did it work out?

purpledalmation · 13/03/2023 14:50

Frownies are little brown sticker you put on at night and they actually work. Get them on Amazon
